Dominican's Delaney Childers and Ashley Corrao Named to ECAC All-Star Team

COMPLETE ECAC SOFTBALL ALL-STAR TEAM RELEASE

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 1, 2012) - Dominican College softball standouts Delaney Childers (Johnstown, Ohio) and Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, N.Y.) have been named to the 2012 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball All-Star Team, which was announced Thursday.

In addition, Childers was honored as the ECAC Pitcher of the Year.  Childers was also the recepient of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher of the Year award.  The Johnstown, Ohio native was also recognized with Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention status after being named the Daktronics East Region Pitcher of the Year

In the circle, Childers led the CACC with a 1.08 earned run average and 10 shutouts. She was second in the CACC with 180 strikeouts in 214.1 innings of work and fashioned a 24-8 record. A one-time ECAC weekly selection, she also was tabbed to the NFCA All-East Region First Team.

Corrao, had a stellar junior campaign behind the plate for the Chargers.  She was named to the All-CACC First Team, the CACC All-Tournament Team,  the Daktronics Division II Softball All-Region First Team and to the 2012 National Fast Pitch Coach's Association (NFCA) Division II All-East First Region Team.  Recently she was the recipient of Dominican College softball Coach's Award.

She ranked sixth among CACC leaders with 42 RBI while posting the league's 10th-best batting average at .381.  She also led the conference with 32 walks and her .502 on-base percentage was the second-best among the league leaders.
