HULL AND PULIDO NAMED SOFTBALL PLAYER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Brooke Hull of Georgian Court University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 11. Caldwell College's Brittany Pulido was honored as the Pitcher of the Week, while Rookie of the Week accolades went to Erin Summers of USP.
Hull, a sophomore DP from Nazareth, Pa., drove in 15 runs in six games last week, including an 8-RBI performance against Goldey-Beacom. She hit three home runs on the week, scored seven times and hit two doubles. She also homered against Dowling and earned a 1.167 slugging percentage for the week.
Pulido, a junior right-hander from Ojai, Cal., went 4-1 last week with a 1.17 ERA. She allowed five runs and 18 hits in 30.0 innings of work. In the final four outings of week, she allowed just 13 hits and one run in 21.0 innings. She collected shutouts against Concordia and NYIT and surrendered only one run in a tough 1-0 loss to Dowling.
Summers, a 5-8 OF/C from Pittman, N.J., hit .524 with 12 RBI, four homers and six runs scored in a 7-3 week for the Devils. She smashed two home runs in a game 1 win over Wilmington, and hit another in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of the Wildcats. She also hit a long ball against Millersville.

Kyrie Timbrook, Caldwell (Sr., 1B, Los Gatos, CA) - Hit .571 with seven RBI, six runs, three doubles and two home runs.
Cara Piasecki, Dominican (Sr., SS, Port Monmouth, NJ) - Hit .556 with nine RBI, five doubles, one home run and six runs scored.
Courtney Spina, USP (Fr., RHP, Thornton, PA) - Had a 1.28 ERA and a 4-1 record, with 30 K’s and 23 hits allowed in 27.1 IP.
Jaime Lorenzo, Concordia (Jr., SS, Eastchester, NY) - Hit .500 in a 5-3 week with eight RBI, nine runs and two home runs.
Katie Renner, Philadelphia (So., C, Berryville, VA) - Hit .435 in 7 games with six RBI, six runs scored and a pair of homers.
Tierney Marceau, Post (So., 1B, Norton, MA) - Hit .370 in a 6-4 week with 14 RBI, seven runs scored and three home runs.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - BC went 4-2 in CACC games this week including sweeps of Nyack and Holy Family. Freshman Ashton Corley hit her first career homer, a 2-run shot in the sixth inning against Holy Family to give BC a 2-1 win. Nicole Cagnino’s ninth-inning grand slam gave BC a 9-5 win over Holy Family in Game two of the doubleheader. Brianne Moore pitched all 16 innings against HFU, allowing four earned runs and picking up two victories on the day.
Caldwell - The Cougars went 9-3 last week to improve to 22-10 on the season, earning CACC sweeps of Felician, Concordia and Nyack while splitting with Holy Family. Caldwell hit 12 home runs last week, including four by senior Danielle Genovese, who hit two two-run homers against Queens at the Georgian Court Tournament. Genovese, senior Kyrie Timbrook and sophomore Marisa Tamez homered consecutively in the third inning of that game. Timbrook batted .571 last week to raise her team-leading batting average to .505. As a team the Cougars batted .343 and out-scored their opponents 78-17. Junior pitcher Brittany Pulido held NYIT without a hit in her five innings of work in a 9-1 win. Caldwell was ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region rankings for the second week in a row.
Felician - Senior OF/IF Nicole Degenhardt and senior 2B Hope Van Dyke each recorded their 100th career base hit last week, becoming the sixth and seven players in Felician’s 14-year history to do so.
Georgian Court - GCU went 1-3 in its 3rd annual “Go to Bat for Breast Cancer” Tournament this past weekend, falling to Molloy, NYIT and Dowling. The Lions defeated Queens College for their lone win. Georgian Court pounded out 24 runs on 27 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Goldey-Beacom (4/7). The Lions blasted two grand slams last week (Brooke Hull vs. Goldey-Beacom on 4/7 and Chelsea Long vs. Molloy on 4/10). GCU will play three CACC twin-bills this week (vs. Felician, 4/13; vs. Caldwell, 4/15 and at Dominican, 4/17)
Philadelphia - PhilaU Head Coach John Kelly has his team where it needs to be with less than half the season to go- as his sophomore combo of Katie Renner and Ali Schmidt each lead the team offensively (Renner) and defensively (Schmidt). With an even 13-13 record right now, the squad has tilts with CACC opponents Bloomfield, Goldey-Beacom and Post this week.
USP - Freshman Erin Summers (Pitman, N.J.) set school records for most home runs in a doubleheader (3) and RBI in a doubleheader (8) on Monday vs. Wilmington. She also tied the school record for most home runs in a game with two in the opener vs. the Wildcats. Gabrielle Adams (Aston, Pa.) extended her hitting streak to seven games this week, the second longest streak on the team this year. Freshman Courtney Spina (Thornton, Pa.) threw her third shutout of the season on Wednesday vs. Chestnut Hill becoming just the fourth pitcher in school history to throw three or more shutouts in a season. Senior Mia Crotti (Jessup, Pa.) became the tenth women’s softball player in school history to record 100 career hits, reaching the mark with a single in USP’s second game vs. Millersville. Senior Erin Degnan (Doylestown, Pa) struck out 14 batters in 3 appearances this week to move into third place on the Devils all-time strikeout list with 189 for her career. Samantha Tu (Trevose, Pa.) and Dayna Phillips (Rosenhayn, N.J.) moved into second and third place respectively on the Devils all-time hit list this week with both players getting 13 hits on the week. Tu now has 131 career hits; Phillips 127.
