WATERBURY, CONN. (Aug. 24, 2009) - The Post University softball team is coming off a successful 2009 with a young and talented team. Adding to the excitement building for the 2010 season is the addition of standout pitcher Ashley Cummings.
"As a coaching staff, we are extremely excited that Ashley will be playing softball for the Post University Eagles this year," said Head Softball Coach Tracey Garofalo. "She is as hard working as they come and will blend well with the talent we already have on the team."
Cummings comes from a military family and traveled extensively throughout her youth. She stayed in Virginia during 2009 and was named the Virginia Commonwealth District Player of the Year, First Team All-District, as well as being named to the Second Team All-Region by the Washington Post.
Last season, Cummings pitched 23 games (20-2-1), while maintaining a .345 Batting Average, and a 0.24 Earned Run Average. Of her 20 wins, 11 were shutouts and two were no-hitters, shattering her school's pitching records.
"Through my pitching and travel coaches, I understand the incredible demands placed upon collegiate athletes, both academically and physically, and have a desire and passion to reach the highest levels in both," said Cummings. "Representing Post University as a student and player is a dream come true."
