NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Caldwell College, Dominican College and Georgian Court University all fell Friday at the NCAA Division II East Region Softball Tournament. Caldwell and GCU will meet in an elimination game Saturday at 1:30 pm at the University of New Haven.

Caldwell lost a hard-fought 8-inning game against Southern Connecticut, 1-0. Megan Caporossi stepped up in the bottom of the eighth and lined a single to center. Brittany Bucko just beat Kelly Ryan's throw home for the game-winning run.

Brittany Pulido (20-7) scattered six hits while striking out one and walking one in 7 1/3 innings of work for the Cougars. Jayme Larson gave up four hits and struck out three while walking one in a complete-game shutout.

New Haven upended Georgian Court, 8-0, behind the pitching of Northeast 10 Conference Pitcher and Player of the Year, Breanne Gleason, who improved to 34-5 on the year. Gleason yielded just a one-out single to Sammie Jo Garofalo in the top of the fourth inning after retiring the first 10 batters of the contest.  Gleason went the distance (6 IP), allowing one hit, one walk and a hit-by-pitch to go along with seven strikeouts.

New Haven put the game out of reach almost immediately, scoring three runs in both the first and second innings for a speedy 6-0 advantage.

Dominican lost a 6-2 decision to Dowling College in the other half of the regional. The Chargers scored on a Julie Plante single in the fifth inning and a sacrifice fly by Ashley Martinez in the sixth. Sophomore Katrina Pistilli took the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits. The Chargers will play an elimination game Saturday at 11:00 am against C.W. Post at Dowling.
