NEW CASTLE, DE - Wilmington College Softball Coach Erin Harvey and her staff are pleased to announce their recruiting class for the upcoming 2008 season.

The Wildcats are adding five new student-athletes to their roster. Joining the program are four freshmen and one transfer. The incoming freshmen are Kate Brown (North East HS/Elkton, MD), Nicole Gebhart (Concord HS/Wilmington, DE), Cari Lindstrom (Elkton HS/Bear, DE), and Kristin Tomlinson (Sussex Central HS/Millsboro, DE).

Kate Brown, a pitcher/first baseman from North East High School, was the Cecil County Player of the Year and First Team All-County selection this past season. Brown helped lead the Indians to the finals of the Maryland Class AA State Championships. Nicole Gebhart, a pitcher/infielder, hails from Concord High School, where she was a Second-Team All-State selection this past season and three-time All Blue Hen Conference award winner during her career. Cari Lindstrom, an infielder, comes from Elkton High School, where she helped lead the Golden Elks to the state playoffs. Kristin Tomlinson, an outfielder, hails from Sussex Central High School, where she was a First Team All-Henlopen Conference and First-Team All-State selection in 2007.

Wilmington is also adding a transfer in Katie Walsh (Del-Tech Stanton/Bear, DE). Walsh comes to the ?Cats from Del-Tech Stanton and will enter her sophomore year of eligibility. A former All-Blue Hen Conference outfielder at Newark, Walsh played for the Spirit during the 2006 season.

"We are ecstatic to have these five players join us and look forward to their contributions", stated Coach Harvey. She added, "They will fit in nicely with our returning players, and give the squad depth at all positions. Each could challenge for significant playing time, and it should make for some very competitive softball here at Wilmington College."

These new recruits join 11 returning student-athletes on a Wildcat squad that completed one of the most successful seasons at the College over the past decade. One of the most improved teams in all of Division II, Wilmington completed the 2007 campaign with a 31-15 record (16-6 in the CACC).

Wilmington College is an NCAA Division II institution located in New Castle, Delaware, that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Conference is comprised of 13 schools throughout Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.
