MATHEWS, TURNER AND PULIDO EARN SOFTBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Mallorie Mathews of Bloomfield College has earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, March 16. Katie Turner of Wilmington University was named Pitcher of the Week and Caldwell College pitcher Brittany Pulido claimed Rookie of the Week honors.
Mathews, a junior 3B from Fair Lawn, NJ, hit .600 (9-for-15) with seven RBI, six runs scored and one home run in a 3-1 week for the Deacons. She went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs and three RBI against Virginia State.
Turner, a sophomore right-hander from Smyrna, DE, picked up three wins on the week and allowed only one earned run in 15 innings of work. She earned a CACC win over Philadelphia University by allowing only six hits and fanning eight in a complete game.
Pulido, a right-hander from Ojai, CA, went 1-1 for the week with a 1.17 ERA against two top-10 teams in Lock Haven and Nebraska-Omaha. She threw a complete game shutout versus Lock Haven, allowing three hits and no walks while fanning three.
Honorable Mention
Kendra Russell, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., RHP, New Castle, DE) - Threw a 5-inning no-hitter against Lincoln with 14 strikeouts and one walk.
Lindsay Frye, Wilmington (Jr., OF, Claymont, DE) - Hit .667 in a 4-0 week with five RBI and four runs scored.
Brianne Moore, Bloomfield (So., RHP, Clifton, NJ) - Went 2-0 and did not allow an earned run in 12 innings of work last week. She fanned 10 batters and surrendered only nine total hits.
Megan Harper, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., C, Atco, NJ) - Hit .714 in two games with four RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - Against Virginia State University, Bianka Cosme, Tiffany Jackson and Sara Locke all recorded their first career collegiate hits. In game 1 against VSU, the Deacons had 7 girls with multi-hit games. In game 2, junior Mallorie Mathews recorded the Deacons first 4-hit game of the year, going 4-5 and falling just a triple shy of the cycle. Sophomore righty Brianne Moore hasn't given up an earned run in 19 innings and was 2-0 on the week, registering wins against Virginia State and Chowan University.
Caldwell - The Cougars opened the 2008 season at the Rebel Spring Games, going 2-4 in their first six games. Freshman Brittany Pulido tossed a three-hit shutout to defeat fifth-ranked Lock Haven, 1-0. Pulido won the pitching dual against two-time All-American Kristin Erb, who gave up singles to junior Gina Capardi and sophomore Kyrie Timbrook in the fourth that produced the game's only run. Caldwell plays four more games in Florida before hosting American International on Thursday, Mar. 20 at Caldwell Field.
Philadelphia - The Philadelphia softball team is taking part in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. this week. In addition to Sunday's games against New Haven and South Dakota, they play six more games in the next four days against Tiffin, Northern State, Nebraska-Omaha (twice), William Woods and UMass Lowell.
