2007 CACC Softball Weekly Awards March 12 Player of the Week: Amanca Mucaria, Wilmington (Sr., OF, Newark, DE): Hit .367 in a 7-3 week for the Wildcats. Hit one home run, drove in eight and scored seven times while stealing one base. Collected multiple hits in three games and knocked in multiple runs twice. Also recorded a game-winning RBI vs. Assumption. Pitcher of the Week: Kim Lawrence, Wilmington (Fr., RHP, Wilmington, DE): Started her collegiate career by going 7-0 last week, including six complete games and two, two-hitters. Averaged 5.5 strikeouts per-game (34 total) and walked just eight. Gave up only eight runs in 43 innings (1.30 ERA) of work. Rookie of the Week: Lauren Campbell, Nyack (Fr., C, Katy, TX): Hit .556 in a 2-2 week for Nyack with one home run and five runs batted in. Scored three runs and stole two bases. Drove in two runs and scored twice in a 9-1 win over Northwestern College. March 19 Player of the Week: Mallorie Mathews, Bloomfield (So., 3B, Fair Lawn, NJ): Hit .394 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 10 games, eight of them at the Gene Cusic Classic. Hit two triples, two doubles and scored six times for the week. She tied a school-record with an eight-game hit streak at the Gene Cusic Classic. Pitcher of the Week: Nicole Webb, Caldwell (Sr., RHP, Toms River, NJ): Went 2-1 in five appearances last week. In 17.1 innings, allowed 16 hits and struck out eight batters. Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of a 5-1 win over Queens and earned a win in relief against regionally-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato. Rookie of the Week: Brianne Moore, Bloomfield (Fr., RHP, Clifton, NJ): Picked up two wins and a save for the week. In her collegiate debut, she pitched a complete game and gave up no earned runs against Upper Iowa. Also defeated Bridgeport, allowing no earned runs and fanning nine. She struck out 20 batters in 20 total innings of work. March 26 Player of the Week: Ally McBryar, Holy Family (Sr., 3B, Fairless Hills, PA) - Led Holy Family in a double-header split against Philadelphia on Saturday by driving in six runs, scoring three times, hitting one home run and hitting .500. She drove in three runs in both games. Pitcher of the Week: Samantha Sasko, Georgian Court (So., RHP, Yardville, NJ) - Went 3-1 for the week, including two conference victories over Bloomfield. She fanned 28 batters in 20.1 innings and recorded a 1.74 ERA. Allowed only two hits and struck out eight in 5.0 innings in a victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. She allowed only five earned runs for the week. Rookie of the Week: Dolores Brown, Holy Family (Fr., Croydon, PA) -Blasted two home runs in a double-header split against Philadelphia. She hit .667 in the two games with three RBI and two runs scored. Went 3-for-3 and was a triple away from the cycle in game one. Followed with a two-run home run in game two. April 2 Player of the Week: Danielle Genovese, Caldwell (Fr., SS, Livingston, NJ) - Hit .514 in 10 games with eight RBI, 10 runs scored, two home runs, two triples, two doubles and five stolen bases. Had five 3-hit games, homered and doubled against Nyack and also hit a home run at New Haven. Pitcher of the Week: Jody Searfoss, Holy Family (Fr., RHP, Weatherly, PA) - Went 3-0 in leading the Tigers to a 4-0 week. She sported a 0.88 ERA in allowing two runs and 11 hits in 16.0 innings of work. Earned a complete game shutout at Felician by allowing only two hits, fanning six and not walking a batter. Rookie of the Week: Kim Lawrence, Wilmington (Fr., RHP, Wilmington, DE) - Went 2-1 with two saves and a 1.40 ERA for the week. Allowed five runs and 23 hits in 25.0 innings and fanned 18. She has not allowed a run in 20 straight innings and earned complete game shutouts against USP and Bloomfield. April 9 Player of the Week: Jamie Ollari, Dominican (So., OF, Hopatcong, NY) - Hit .875 with two home runs, including a walk-off 3-run home run against Philadelphia. She collected six RBI and scored five runs in a double-header sweep of Philadelphia. Went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and the game-winning home run in game 1. She followed with a 4-for-4 effort with a home run, three RBI and two runs in game 2. Pitcher of the Week: Nicole Webb, Caldwell (Sr., RHP, Toms River, NJ) - Went 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA last week. Allowed only three runs and 18 hits in 21.0 innings of work, while collecting 17 strikeouts. Earned complete game extra-inning wins over Holy Family (8 innings) and Queens (9 innings). Rookie of the Week: Heather Bush, Wilmington (Fr., INF, Hockesin, DE) - Hit .400 with seven RBI and six runs scored in a 4-2 week. She hit one home run (vs. Philadelphia), one triple, one double and stole one base. Went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and three RBI in the second game of a double-header against Philadelphia. April 16 Player of the Week: Kelly Schirmer, Wilmington (So., C, Georgetown, DE) - Helped lead Wilmington to a 5-1 week by hitting .550 with seven RBI, four runs scored, three doubles and one triple. Collected two hits in each of the final five games of the week and had a 3-RBI game against Dominican. Pitcher of the Week: Kim Lawrence, Wilmington (Fr., RHP, Wilmington, DE) - Went 3-0 for the week with a 1.00 ERA. She fanned 21 batters in 21.0 innings and allowed only 13 hits and three earned runs. Earned a complete game shutout against Philadelphia and allowed only one run in a complete game against Dominican. Rookie of the Week: Brianne Moore, Bloomfield (Fr., Clifton, NJ) - Hit .588 in a 3-1 week with six RBI, five runs scored, four doubles and one triple. In a double-header against Caldwell, she went 7-for-8 with three RBI and four doubles, including a 4-for-4 effort in game 2. She also went 1-1 as a pitcher with a 0.99 ERA for the week. April 23 Player of the Week: Heather Walker, Georgian Court (Jr., C, Hanover, Ontario) - Hit .777 with two home runs in leading the Lions to a 4-0 week. Drove in seven runs for the week, scored five times, hit two doubles and stole two bases. She went 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI in a 7-1 win over Nyack. Pitcher of the Week: Samantha Sasko, Georgian Court (So., RHP, Yardville, NJ) - Picked up all four of Georgian Court's wins last week while allowing only six runs and 22 hits in 28.0 innings of work. Fanned 30 batters to go with only four walks and compiled a 1.50 ERA. Rookie of the Week: Katie Turner, Wilmington (Fr., RHP, Smyrna, DE) - Picked up two wins and sported a 0.33 ERA after allowing only one run in 21.0 innings of work. Fanned 25 batters, allowed 15 hits and walked just five. Recorded double-digit strikeouts in two starts. April 30 Player of the Week: Mallorie Mathews, Bloomfield (So., 3B, Fair Lawn, NJ) - Hit .643 with four home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored in leading the Deacons to a 4-0 week. In a double-header at USP, she went 5-for-7 with four RBI, five runs scored and two home runs. Also blasted a homer and drove in three runs in a double-header versus Dominican. Pitcher of the Week: Nicole Webb, Caldwell (Sr., RHP, Toms River, NJ) - Went 2-2 on the week with a 1.53 ERA after allowing seven runs in 32.0 innings of work. Fanned 29 batters and walked only five. Pitched four complete games, including three extra-inning contests. Struck out 12 batters in a victory at Post. Rookie of the Week: Cara Piasecki, Dominican (Fr., SS, Port Monmouth, NJ) - Posted a .529 batting average with three home runs, five RBI and six runs scored in a 4-4 week. Hit for a 1.059 slugging percentage and hit homers against Bloomfield, Holy Family and Georgian Court on the week. May 7 Player and Pitcher of the Week: Samantha Sasko, Georgian Court (So., RHP, Yardville, NJ) - Started all four of Georgian Court's games at the CACC Tournament and collected all three wins. Hurled 26 innings and allowed just 20 hits and 11 runs (2.96 ERA) while fanning 21 and walking seven. In the championship game against Caldwell, she allowed three runs in 7.0 innings with three strikeouts. In her first match-up against Caldwell on Friday, allowed only one run and fanned nine. Rookie of the Week: Brittni Frantellizzi, Caldwell (Fr., 1B, Binghamton, NY) - Hit .316 at the CACC Tournament with three runs scored, three RBIs and a double. She had a double and three RBIs in Caldwell's 9-2 win over Wilmington in an elimination game. |
