THREE USP SOFTBALL PLAYERS EARN SPOTS ON PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER ACADEMIC LIST

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Three members of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia women's softball team, Megan Trimble, Laura Flint and Brittany Ebersole have been selected to the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team.
Trimble (Coatesville High School/Coatesville, Pa.) and Flint (Interlake High School/Duvall, Wash.), both seniors, and Ebersole (Cumberland Valley High School/Camp Hill, Pa.), a sophomore, were amongst the eleven student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team. The team was voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Trimble, a pharmacy major, recently completed her second professional year in the university's Doctor of Pharmacy program. Megan has a 3.18 grade point average.
Playing and starting in 33 of the Devils' 37 games in 2007, the senior outfielder recorded 45 hits in 103 at-bats to lead the team with a .437 batting average. Trimble was also second on the team in stolen bases with four and third on the team in doubles with six. Her .437 batting average placed her second amongst the league's softball players and 33rd nationally amongst all Division II players. Megan was recently named to the Daktronics All-Northeast Region Second Team for the second time in her career and was the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in 2004, a first team All-CCC selection in 2007 and a second team All-CACC selection in 2005. Trimble is the Devils' all-time leader in home runs (21), total bases (217) and runs batted in (88). She is fourth on the Devils all-time hit list with 124 career hits and ranks in USP's top 10 all-time in six other offensive categories.
The former Coatesville High School athlete earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete honors in 2004 and 2005 and was awarded the Tug McGraw Scholarship in 2006. Trimble earned Dean's List honors four times and was inducted into the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society in 2006.
Flint recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.76 grade point average Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with minors in biochemistry and forensic science. Laura has completed her fourth an final season of play for the Devils.
The senior pitcher led the Devils with a 7-8 record in 17 appearances in 2007. Flint posted a 4.56 earned run average and led the Devils in strikeouts with 70. She also led the team in starts (14), complete games (11) and innings pitched (96.2). Flint finished her career with 16 wins and a 3.96 earned run average, is Devils all-time strikeout leader with 256 and is ranked in USP's top ten all-time in nearly every pitching category.
The former Interlake High School athlete has been named to the Dean's List in each of her seven previous semesters at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete honors in 2004 and 2005. She is a member of Alpha Chi; the National Scholarship Society ands was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society in 2004.
Ebersole appeared in 28 games for the Devils this season, starting 24 at third base. Brittany finished the season batting .257 with one home run and 10 runs batted in. A solid defensive player, Ebersole made just one error in 71 chances. The sophomore third baseman also batted .563 when leading off an inning this season and had six multiple hit games.
Ebersole recorded a 4.00 grade point average in the spring 2007 semester and has a 3.96 overall g.p.a. while majoring in chemistry. She has earned Dean's List honors all four semesters and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society in 2006. The former Cumberland Valley High School athlete recently completed her second season of play for the Devils.
The three USP players are joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team by Widener's Stephanie Caulford; Arcadia's Jennifer Compton; Neumann's Caitlin Hanrahan; Penn's Annie Kinsey and Olivia Mauro; Rowan's Jen Lake and Temple's Courtney Norene and Adrienne Repsher. Repsher was named the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Performer of the Year.
