ESCHEMAN, SAUNDERS AND SASKO EARN CACC SOFTBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Jen Escheman of Holy Family University has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 2. Jessica Saunders of Caldwell College is the Pitcher of the Week and Samantha Sasko of Georgian Court was selected as the Rookie of the Week.


Escheman, a junior from Deptford, NJ, hit .478 (11-for-23) in a 5-3 week for the Tigers. The catcher collected six doubles, drove in 11 runs and scored twice during the week, while earning a .538 on-base percentage and a .739 slugging percentage. She went 4-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles in an 8-2 win over Molloy.

Saunders, a senior from Glen Burnie, MD, went 3-1 last week with a 1.21 ERA. She fanned 39 batters in 29.0 innings, while allowing only 19 hits and five earned runs. She hurled a complete-game, two-hit shutout against Post and fanned a season-high 13 batters in a 5-2 win over regionally-ranked New Haven.

Sasko, a freshman from Yardville, NJ, collected three wins last week and allowed only one earned run and 11 hits in 21 innings of work. She struck out 19 batters, walked one, and recorded a remarkable 0.33 ERA.
