STATHES, BARK, LEIGHTY AND RYERSON EARN WEEKLY SOFTBALL ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Christine Stathes of Dominican College has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 23. Fellow Charger Michelle Bark and Anna Leighty of Georgian Court shared Pitcher of the Week honors, while Fauna Ryerson of Bloomfield College is the Pitcher of the Week.

Stathes, a sophomore outfielder, hit three home runs, drove in 10 runs and hit .471 (8-for-17) for the week. The Cornwell, NY native, scored five runs during the week and had a 1.000 slugging percentage. She went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two home runs and two runs scored against Pace.

Bark, who earns Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season, went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA last week. Bark, who is from West Milford, NJ, struck out a total of 19 batters, including 11 against Pace, and walked one in 12 total innings of work. She allowed only four hits against the Setters in seven innings.

Leighty, a junior from Carney's Point, NJ, went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA for the week. In 11 total innings, she allowed eight hits, no runs and fanned seven. In a 7-inning shutout of Holy Family, she allowed five hits and had five strikeouts. Leighty was named CACC Player of the Week on March 13.

Ryerson, a freshman righty from West Milford, NJ, did not allow an earned run in two starts while compiling a 1-1 record. She gave up only six hits in 14 innings of work and fanned nine. She suffered a 1-0 loss to Wilmington despite not allowing an earned run and surrendering only three hits. She got a win against St. Thomas Aquinas after hurling a 3-hitter with four strikeouts over six innings of work.
