Player and Pitcher of the WeekMarch 21, 2005 Player of the Week LAUREN ARMSTRONG, HOLY FAMILY (Fr, OF, 5-8, Williamstown, N.J.) Batted .600 (6 for 10) in leading the Tigers to a 3-1 week. Went 4 for 6 with a run scored and a stolen base during a sweep of East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Is riding an eight-game hitting streak. Pitcher of the Week KIM JOYCE, HOLY FAMILY (Jr, R, 5-3, Wilmington, Del.) Went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in two starts. In 14 innings, allowed one run on seven hits, struck out seven batters and walked one. Faced the minimum 21 batters in a one-hit shutout of West Chester.
Player of the Week AMANDA RUSTICUS, BLOOMFIELD (Sr, SS, Hawthorne,
N.J.) Went 7 for 10 with three doubles, two
homeruns, four runs scored and four runs batted in during a 2-1
week for the Deacons which included a conference sweep of USP.
Slugged 1.600 and had a .750 on-base percentage. Pitcher of the Week SHERRY KEECH, GEORGIAN COURT(Sr, R, 6-0, Glencoe,
Ontario) Went 5-2 with a 1.62 earned-run average in
nine appearances, including one shutout. In 39 innings, struck out
40 batters and walked nine. Drove in the game-winning run to give
herself a relief victory in the Lions’ Game 1 win over NYIT
on Tuesday. HONOR ROLL April 4, 2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK AMY COKER, CALDWELL (Jr, 2B, Pennsville, Pa.) Went 7 for 12 (.583) with two doubles, three runs scored, four runs batted in and three stolen bases during a 4-0 week for the Cougars, all in conference action. Had three multi-hit games. PITCHER OF THE WEEK JESSICA SAUNDERS, CALDWELL (Jr, R, Glen Burnie, Md.) Pitched 10 scoreless innings in two starts, going 2-0 and holding opponents to an .071 batting average. Allowed two hits, struck out 16 batters and walked six. Tossed a one-hit shutout in Game 2 against USP on Wednesday. HONOR ROLL KENDRA RUSSELL, GOLDEY-BEACOM (Fr, P, New Castle, Del.) Was 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in three appearances. In 16 2/3 innings, allowed 12 hits, struck out 11 and walked none. Tossed a nine-inning shutout against Felician. NICOLE HAYS, WILMINGTON (Fr, SS, 5-5, Bel Air, Md.) Went 3 for 4 plus a walk in a sweep of Georgian Court in the Wildcats’ only action. Went 4 for 4 in stolen base attempts and scored two runs. NIKKI SHALLCROSS, WILMINGTON (So, P, 5-8, Warwick, Md.) Was the winning pitcher in both ends of a sweep of Georgian Court. Allowed no earned runs on eight hits in 12 innings, struck out eight and walked three. NICOLE FORTINO, GEORGIAN COURT (Fr, 3B, 5-6, Brick, N.J.) Was 3 for 4 with three homeruns and six RBI in a split with Post. For the week, slugged 1.200 with a .462 on-base percentage and scored five runs. April 11, 2005 CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK AMANDA MUCARIA, WILMINGTON (So, OF, 5-7, Newark,
Del.) Hit .400 and slugged .700 in a 4-2 week for
the Wildcats. Stroked three doubles and a homerun, scored four
runs, and drove in five. CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK CRISTA HOLTOM, POST (Jr,
5-8, Waterloo, Ontario) Went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three
starts, including two shutouts. In 19 innings, allowed 11 hits,
struck out 17 batters and walked two. JACKIE SCARPARI, FELICIAN (Sr, R, 5-4, Monroe Township, N.J.) Tossed a pair of shutouts, a three-hitter over Bloomfield and a two-hitter versus USP. Did not allow a walk in 14 innings. HONOR ROLL KIM JOYCE, HOLY FAMILY (Jr, P, 5-3, Wilmington, Del.) Went 2-1 with a 0.70 ERA in three starts, including shutouts of
Nyack and Dominican. In 20 innings, yielded 13 hits, struck out 17
and walked one. April 18, 2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK GINA D’AMICO, CALDWELL (Jr, SS, Turnersville, N.J.) In seven games of the Cougars’ 7-1 week, went 9 for
18 and slugged .944. Posted five doubles, a homerun, three runs
scored and five runs batted in. Was a combined 6 for 10 against
regionally-ranked Dowling and Adelphi. CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK ANNA DAHL, CALDWELL (So, R, Lindenwold,
N.J.) Went 3-0 with a save and a 0.30 ERA in four
appearances, including a 1-0 shutout of Dowling. Yielded 11 hits in
23 innings, struck out 20 and walked five. HONOR ROLL HEATHER WALKER, GEORGIAN COURT (Fr, C, 5-6, Hanover,
Ontario) Hit .379 and slugged .828 with a double,
four homeruns, five runs and six RBI in a 6-4 week for the Lions.
Had a two-homer game against Nyack April 25, 2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK KATIE JACKSON, CALDWELL (Jr, RF, Pennsville, N.J.) Led the Cougars to a 6-2 week, batting .706 (12 for 17) plus eight walks for a .769 on-base percentage. Had two doubles and two homers, slugged 1.176, scored seven runs and drove in five. Homered in both ends of a sweep of Queens. PITCHER OF THE WEEK CRISTA HOLTOM, POST (Jr, 5-8, Waterloo, Ontario) In four starts, went 4-0 with a 0.29 earned-run average. In 24 innings, yielded 12 hits, struck out 30 batters and walked none, as opponents hit .141 off her. Threw one shutout and combined on another. HONOR ROLL AMANDA BYRNES, BLOOMFIELD (So, C, Ringwood, N.J.) Hit .619 (13 for 21) with five doubles, a homer, and seven RBI despite a 1-5 week for the Deacons. Slugged 1.000 and had a .625 on-base percentage. SHERRY KEECH, GEORGIAN COURT (Sr, P, 6-1, Glencoe, Ontario) Threw seven-inning shutouts in both of her starts. In 14 innings, allowed five hits, struck out 18 and walked one. CASEY BRADFORD, WILMINGTON (Jr, 2B, 5-3, Pennsville, N.J.) Went 9 for 15 and slugged .933 with a double, a triple, nine runs and eight RBI in a 3-1 week for the Wildcats. Was 5 for 8 in a split with Bloomfield. MEGAN PAPPAS, POST (So, 1B, 5-7, Chester, N.Y.) Hit .458 with three doubles, four homeruns, eight runs and 12 RBI in the Eagles’ 7-1 week. Broke the school single-season homerun record. May 2, 2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK MEGAN PAPPAS, POST (So, 1B/P, 5-7, Chester, NY) In the Eagles' only action of the week, went 6 for 6 plus a walk in an April 25 sweep of Nyack. Had a double and a homerun for a 1.667 slugging percentage. Scored two runs and drove in three. PITCHER OF THE WEEK ANNA DAHL, CALDWELL (So, R, Lindenwold, NJ) Hurled a pair of shutouts, a five-inning four-hitter over Bloomfield and a seven-inning five-hitter against Molloy. In 12 innings, allowed nine hits, struck out 13 batters and walked one. HONOR ROLL AMY COKER, CALDWELL (Jr, 2B, Pennsville, NJ) - Went 7 for 12 with three multi-hit games in a 4-0 week for the Cougars. Had three doubles and scored four runs, and was on-base at a .615 clip. EMILY KERNER, HOLY FAMILY (Sr, 1B, 5-7, Morrisville, PA) - Went 5 for 7 with a triple, three runs and six RBI in a sweep of USP. KENDRA RUSSELL, GOLDEY-BEACOM (Fr, P, New Castle, DE) - Went 5-0 with a 0.65 ERA in six appearances. In 32 innings struck out 19 and walked three while yielding 22 hits. Twice got the win in both ends of doubleheaders. CHRISTINE STATHES, DOMINICAN (Fr, P, Cornwall, NY) - Was 2-0 with a 0.81 ERA in three appearances, including a five-hit shutout of Goldey-Beacom. Allowed 11 hits in 17 1/3 innings. MAY 9, 2005 PLAYER OF THE WEEK KATIE JACKSON, CALDWELL (Jr, RF, Pennsville, N.J.) Had a two-out two-strike RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning in the Cougars’ 12-inning victory in the losers’ bracket final of the CACC Tournament. Went 8 for 12 with a homer and four RBI in the championship and was named to the all-tournament team. PITCHER OF THE WEEK JESSICA SAUNDERS, CALDWELL (Jr, R, Glen Burnie, Md.) Was named Most Valuable Player of the CACC Tournament. Allowed two runs on 10 hits in 16 2/3 innings on the tournament’s final day, including a complete-game 12-inning victory over Goldey-Beacom. Went 4-0 with a 0.80 ERA on the week. HONOR ROLL GINA D’AMICO, CALDWELL (Jr, SS, Turnersville,
N.J.) Batted .563 (9 for 16) in the CACC Tournament.
