2010 CACC Men's Tennis Weekly Award Winners

March 15

Player of the Week: Andrey Boldarev, Concordia College (So, 5-10, Tashkent, Uzbekistan) - Went 2-2 at No. 2 singles, getting wins against #4 Embry Riddle and #16 Flagler last week. Also went 4-1 in first doubles with partner, Alex Grubin.

Rookie of the Week: Andreas Lindell, Concordia College (Fr., 6-1, Helsingborg Skane, Sweden) -Went 3-2 in singles play between the No. 4 and 6 spots last week. His wins came against Monmouth, #2 Barry and Flagler. Also went 3-2 in doubles.

March 22

Player of the Week: Adrian Avena, Chestnut Hill (So., 6-2, Vineland, N.J.) - Went 2-0 in singles last week to help the Griffins beat St. Thomas Aquinas and the University of the District of Columbia. Also went 2-1 in doubles, with his only loss coming to Division I La Salle University.

Rookie of the Week: Pat Joson, Chestnut Hill (Fr., 5-8, Old Bridge, N.J.) - Picked up one singles and one doubles win last week for the Griffins. He won in the No. 2 singles spot against La Salle and at No. 1 doubles against St. Thomas Aquinas.

March 30

Player of the Week: Felix Missal, Concordia College (So., 6-0, Dusseldorf, Germany) - Went 3-0 in both singles and doubles last week. He won at #2 singles against Bloomfield and was victorious in his #1 match against Philadelphia. Also won at his #2 doubles match against Division I Fairleigh Dickinson.

Rookie of the Week: Andreas Lindell, Concordia College (Fr., 6-1, Helsingborg Skane, Sweden) - Went 3-0 this week in singles and doubles, surrendering only three games in each all week. He played #4 singles against Philadelphia and #3 vs. Bloomfield. Won his #1 doubles match against the Deacons.

April 5

Player of the Week: Tamas Dobrotka, Concordia College (Jr., 6-4, Ada, Serbia) - Went 2-0 in singles and doubles last week, giving up a total of three games (one in singles, two in doubles) as the Clippers went 2-0 on the week. Leads the team with nine victories this season.

Rookie of the Week: Kyle Burke, Philadelphia University (Fr., 5-10, Wakefield, R.I.) - Went undefeated in singles and doubles last week to help the Rams notch victories over Chestnut Hill and USP. He played the No. 1 doubles spot and manned the No. 3 singles position.

April 12

Player of the Week: Alex Grubin, Concordia College (Sr., 6-2, Belgrade, Serbia) - Went 4-0 in both singles and doubles last week, including wins in both against Division I St. John’s. The rest of his victories on the week came against CACC foes.

Rookie of the Week: Andreas Lindell, Concordia College (Fr., 6-1, Helsingborg Skane, Sweden) - Went 5-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles last week, with his only loss coming against St. John’s. All of his other wins came against CACC opponents.

April 19

Player of the Week: Raphael Namias, Concordia College (Jr., 5-11, Paris, France) - Went 5-0 in both singles and doubles last week, including victories against Division I opponent, Bryant University. Played in the No. 2, 3, and 4 singles spots, and No. 1 and 2 doubles positions during the week.

Rookie of the Week: Kyle Burke, Philadelphia University (Fr., 5-10, Wakefield, R.I.) - Went 3-0 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles for the Rams last week. Played #3 singles and #2 doubles and is now 11-4 in singles play this season.

April 26

Player of the Week: Adrian Torroella-Cruz of Philadelphia University (So., Gainesville, Fla.) - Won the CACC singles championship Saturday with a win over teammate, Manoli Sgouros. Also teamed with Sgouros to win the CACC doubles championship. For his efforts, he was named the CACC Player of the Year.

Rookie of the Week: Joe Boyle, Chestnut Hill College (Fr., Doylestown, Pa.) - Named CACC Rookie of the Year after advancing to the semi-finals of the conference singles tournament last weekend. Fell to eventual champion, Torroella-Cruz from Philadelphia.

May 10

Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week: Andreas Lindell, Concordia College (Fr., 6-1, Helsingborg Skane, Sweden) - Helped lead the Clippers back to the NCAA Sweet 16, as he was 4-0 in two matches played at the NCAA East Regional last week. Gave up only one game in his singles matches and two in doubles against Adelphi University and conference foe, Philadelphia University.
