Concordia's Mark Mozer Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 17, 2012) - Concordia's Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending April 16. Concordia's Mark Mozer (Brest, Belarus) was chosen as the league's rookie of the week.

 

CACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Daniele Piludu, Concordia (So., Cagliari, Italy)

Posted an unblemished 8-0 mark while playing in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions over three matches last week against top-25 nationally-ranked opponents.  Included in his singles victories were wins over the No. 13, No. 15 and No. 41 ranked players nationally.

Mark Mozer, Concordia (Fr., Brest, Belarus)
Went 2-1 last week while playing in No. 5 singles position an 1-0 in No. 3 doubles slot while playing against three nationally-ranked opponents.  Finishes regular season with  team-high 17 singles victories.

 

CACC Men's Tennis Honorable Mention
Mike Humes, Chestnut Hill (Fr., Medford, N.J.)
Went 2-1 in both singles and doubles last week in matches against Dowling, Philadelphia and Bloomfield.  For the season, holds a 10-9 singles mark while playing primarily in the No. 1 position.

 

 

CACC Men's Tennis Team Notes

Chestnut Hill - The Griffins finished the 2012 CACC regular season at 5-1 with their only CACC loss coming at the hands of league-leading, Concordia College (NY), back on March 21, 9-0. Chestnut Hill College finished second behind the Clippers in the CACC standings, the program's best finish since joining the league and elevating to a NCAA DII program in 2008.

 

Concordia - Concordia held a 3-1 record last week with wins against #10 Francis Marion, #24 Queens (NY) and Wingate. The only loss came against #9 Lander as the regular season for the Clippers has concluded. Concordia’s next match will be during the CACC tournament this weekend.
