CONCORDIA'S BOLDAREV TABBED PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR MEN'S TENNIS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Andrey Boldarev of Concordia College has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 8. Fellow Clipper David Tisserand was the pick for Rookie of the Week.

Boldarev, a 5-10 junior from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, defeated his opponent from St. John's University, 6-3, 6-3, and was only a couple of games away from a singles win over Philadelphia University in the NCAA Tournament before the Clippers notched their fifth and deciding point. He also won both singles matches with Ricardo Frey last week.

Tisserand, a 6-1 freshman from Roquefort le Bedoule, France, won both of his doubles matches with Andreas Lindell last week. He came back in his singles match after dropping the first set to get a victory over St. John's. He was up a set and a break in the second round of the NCAA Tournament before the match was ended with Concordia's fifth point against PhilaU.

CACC Team Notes

Concordia - The Clippers faced off against St. John’s University and edged them out 5-4.  Concordia defeated Philadelphia University in the second round of the NCAA Regionals with a 5-0 score after getting a first round bye.  The Clippers will travel to Altamonte Springs, Florida for the remainder of the tournament and will face Hawaii Pacific in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, May 11th at 10:30 am.  The Clippers retained their #3 ranking in the country as Andrey Boldarev is ranked #9 and Daniele Piludu is ranked #27  in singles in the country.  Boldrev and Piludu are ranked #6 while Tamas Dobrotka and Geza Bazula are ranked #28 in doubles in the country.
