CONCORDIA UNANIMOUS PICK IN CACC MEN'S TENNIS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 17, 2011) - Concordia College is the pre-season pick to win the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Regular-Season Championship according to voting conducted by the seven conference head coaches. The Clippers welcome back six players from last season's team that advanced to the semi-finals of the NCAA Tournament.

Concordia started the early spring season by traveling to Florida and notching wins over four ranked teams, including a triumph over defending national champion, Barry University. The win also avenged a loss to Barry in the national semi-finals last season. Leading returning players for the eighth-ranked Clippers include Andrey Boldarev, Tamas Dobrotka, Andreas Lindell, Felix Missal, Dane Ostilly and Christian Cedarstrom. The Clippers went 26-4 overall last season along with a 12-0 mark in conference play. Concordia won the CACC Tournament Championship, 5-0, over Philadelphia University.

Philadelphia was selected second with 40 points after qualifying for the NCAA Regional last season, where the Rams picked up their first-ever NCAA win with a victory over Merrimack. The Rams fell to Concordia in the regional championship. The Rams went 20-7 overall last season and 10-2 in conference action. Of the team's seven losses, four came to Concordia, including the conference and regional championship matches. Back to lead PhilaU are juniors Adrian Torroella-Cruz and Manoli Sgouros. Lance Lee will begin his first season as head coach.

Chestnut Hill was selected third with 34 points. The Griffins compiled a 13-13 overall record and went 7-5 in conference play last season and advanced to their first conference tournament before falling to Philadelphia in the opening round. Juniors Julius Twyman and Adrian Avena and sophomore Patrick Joson return from last year's postseason roster. A three-year captain, Twyman earned All-Conference status for his doubles play last season.

The rest of the poll is rounded out by USciences, Post, Bloomfield and Caldwell.

The CACC championship is slated for Tuesday and Thursday, April 19 and 21. Chestnut Hill will host the championship match at 3:00 pm on the 21st
