NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Andrey Boldarev of Concordia College has garnered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Mar. 14. Concordia's Andreas Lindell was the pick for Rookie of the Week.
Boldarev, a 5-10 sophomore from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, went 2-2 at No. 2 singles, getting wins against #4 Embry Riddle and #16 Flagler last week. He also went 4-1 in first doubles with partner, Alex Grubin.
Lindell, a 6-1 freshman from Helsingborg Skane, Sweden, went 3-2 in singles play between the No. 4 and 6 spots last week. His wins came against Monmouth, #2 Barry and Flagler. He also went 3-2 in doubles.
Honorable Mention
David Negron, Chestnut Hill (So., 5-8, Philadelphia, PA) - Went 3-0 in singles play (2-0 at #4) and 3-0 in doubles to help the Griffins to a 2-1 week.
Pat Joson, Chestnut Hill (Fr., 5-8, Old Bridge, NJ) - Was 2-1 last week, including a win at No. 1 singles against Misericordia.
CACC Team Notes
Chestnut Hill - Chestnut Hill shut out Muskingum and Misericordia in their final two matches at the Hilton Head Golf and Tennis Resort. With a 2-1 opening week of spring play, the Griffins are 3-3 so far in 2009-10.
Concordia - The Clippers are ranked ninth in the country and upset No. 4 Embry Riddle on their last day of play in Florida last week.
