NEW HAVEN, CT - Joe Wright of Dominican College has been named

the week ending Monday, Sept. 7. James Flaherty of Dominican and
Ryan Purnell of Philadelphia University claimed co-Rookie of the
Week honors.
Wright, a 6-0 senior forward from Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, led Dominican to a 2-0 week with six points on two goals and two assists. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over American International and assisted on the game-winner against Merrimack. He also scored a goal against the Warriors.
Flaherty, a 5-8 freshman midfielder from London, England, and Purnell, a 5-8 freshman from Hamilton, Bermuda, both notched their first collegiate goals in victories last week. Flaherty scored the game-tying goal against American International, and Purnell registered his goal against Wheeling Jesuit.
Honorable Mention
Mark Ferretti, Holy Family (So., GK, 6-2, Voorhees, NJ) - Allowed just one goal in three games last week and came up with 19 saves.
Quincy Small, Felician (Sr., F, 5-9, Linden, Guyana) - Tallied his second hat trick of the season in a 3-1 win over STAC.
Tim Weglicki, Holy Family (So., F, 5-11, Philadelphia, PA) - Registered three goals in a 3-0 week for the Tigers.
CACC Notes
Chestnut Hill - Chestnut Hill capitalized on a penalty kick to force overtime in its home-opening contest against Washington Adventist. Unfortunately, the Pioneers stole a 3-2 win with an overtime goal at 104:36. A result of physical and aggressive play, junior defenseman Maurice Blanton (Bristol, Pa.) netted the tying strike on a penalty kick with 6:55 remaining.
Felician - Senior F Quincy Small recorded his second hat trick
of the season in Felician's 3-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on
Labor Day. Small owns six of his team's seven goals on the
season.
Holy Family - The Holy Family men's soccer team won all three of
its games last week by a combined score of 10-1. The Tigers opened
the week by defeating Mercy, 4-1. Four different players had a goal
in the win and goalkeeper Mark Ferretti made nine saves in the win.
On Sunday, Holy Family took down Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 2-0.
Forwards Tim Weglicki and Seydou Ba had the goals in the victory.
Ferretti made three saves to earn his first shutout in a Tiger
uniform. The week ended on Monday with a 4-0 win over
Alderson-Broaddus. Once again, four different players scored for
Holy Family. Ferretti stopped seven shots for his second straight
shut-out. Weglicki was the Tiger's offensive leader for the week by
scoring a goal in each game. Ferretti stopped 19 of the 20 shots he
faced during the week. Holy Family has only one game this week, its
conference opener at Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday.
Philadelphia - The Rams got their first win of 2009, a 2-0 non-conference victory over Wheeling Jesuit University. Goals were scored by Svetozar Gladic and newcomer Ryan Purnell. Veteran goalkeeper Buddy Custer accumulated 10 saves in the contest, going all 90 minutes.
