WILMINGTON'S TARPEH CLAIMS MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

NEW HAVEN, CT - Sargbah Tarpeh of Wilmington University has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 27. Facundo Zalazar of Caldwell College was chosen Rookie of the Week.

Tarpeh, a 5-11 senior forward from Philadelphia, PA, led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week with four goals and one assist last week. He had a hand in all five of Wilmington's goals on the week. He recorded a hat trick in a 3-2 win at Bloomfield and had one goal and one assist in a 2-0 triumph over Chestnut Hill. Tarpeh is the third player from Wilmington to earn Player of the Week honors this season (Ethan Kavanagh on Aug. 31 and Jorge Zapata on Sept. 21.)

Zalazar, a 6-0 freshman forward from Buenos Aires City, Argentina, found the back of the net three times in two contests last week. He scored twice against C.W. Post and had one goal against CACC foe Concordia.

Honorable Mention

Brandon Heembrock, Dominican (So., GK, 6-2, Ottawa, Canada) - Came up with 13 saves and allowed one goal in a 2-1 win over Bloomfield.

Ian Martin, Philadelphia (So., F/M, 5-11, Beachwood, NJ) - Had three goals (all vs. GBC) and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Rams.

Mark Ferretti, Holy Family (So., GK, 6-2, Voorhees, NJ) - Did not allow a goal in two games (170:40 min.) and recorded 12 saves.

Gavin Penny, Nyack (So., F/M, Dagenham, England) - Notched two goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Warriors.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - Freshman forward Facundo Zalazar scored three goals in a pair of losses last week. Zalazar found the net in the second minute of the game in a 4-3 loss at Concordia on Tuesday. He then scored both of Caldwell's goals in a 3-2 loss at home to C.W. Post on Thursday. This week the Cougars play at Felician on Wednesday and Wilmington on Saturday in CACC contests.

Concordia - The Clippers won their first game of the season against Caldwell, which was the first win for the men's soccer team in the CACC and for Coach Joe Pennetti. The Clippers recorded their second win in a row with a victory over Chestnut Hill.

Felician - Senior forward Quincy Small recorded his third multi-goal game of the year in last Tuesday's 4-3 home loss to Nyack. Sophomore midfielder Kevin Sinic added his first collegiate goal in that game.

Holy Family - Holy Family won both of its contests in the past week to improve to 6-2-1 overall. The week started with an 8-0 win over Lincoln. Tim Weglicki and John Friskey both scored twice in the victory. It was the largest margin of victory under head coach Mike Bradby. On Saturday, the Tigers defeated Nyack, 1-0 in double overtime. Seydou Ba scored the game's lone goal to earn the win. Mark Ferretti stopped a career-high 11 saves to earn the shutout. Entering the week, Ferretti was fifth in save percentage and 27th in goals against average in Division II. This week, Holy Family hosts Wilmington (Del.) and travels to Post.

Nyack - Gavin Penny (Dagenham, England) scored two goals in Tuesday's comeback 4-3 win over Felician. Penny also had the assist on Daniel Ocampo's (Mexico City, Mexico) game winner. Bobby Caskran (Valrico, FL) also netted his first goal of the season in the win.

Philadelphia - The Rams went 1-1 this week, getting a big 4-1 win over Goldey-Beacom and dropping their first CACC contest of the year in a 2-0 loss at defending CACC Champion Post University. The Rams travel to Columbia Union on Tuesday (9/29) before hosting their homecoming match on Saturday (10/3) vs. Bloomfield at 2:30 PM.
