TARPEH AND RAIGOZA SHARE MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Wilmington University's Sargbah Tarpeh and Bloomfield College's Cristian Raigoza have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer co-Players of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 18. Errol Reid of Post University was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Tarpeh, a 5-11 senior forward from Philadelphia, PA, and Raigoza, a 5-9 junior midfielder from Medellin, Columbia, both tallied two goals and two assists in their only games last week. Tarpeh, who has been named CACC Player of the Week three times in 2009, scored his points in a 4-3 win over Philadelphia University. He netted the first goal just 41 seconds into the action. Raigoza had two goals and two assists in a victory over Felician.
Reid, a 6-3 freshman goalkeeper from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, recorded a shutout victory with five saves in a 2-0 triumph over #10 Dominican College. It was Dominican's first loss of the season.
Honorable Mention
Joel Bicknell, Nyack (Sr., F, Sandown, NH) - Posted two goals and two assists last week against Concordia and Chestnut Hill.
Eltany Morais, Post (So., F, 6-0, Cape Verde Islands) - Netted the game-winning goal in a victory over Dominican.
Svetozar Gladic, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 5-11, Novi Sad, Serbia) - Tallied one goal and one assists in a loss to #24 Wilmington.
Carl Essenthier, Chestnut Hill (Fr., F, 5-9, Philadelphia, PA) - Scored two goals and one assist in a 4-3 loss to Holy Family.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Deacons improved to 4-3-1 in CACC play with a 4-0 victory over Felician College. Junior Cristian Raigoza led the charge offensively by notching two goals and a pair of assists. The six total points are a seson high for the midfielder.
Caldwell - The Cougars tied regionally-ranked Bridgeport, 2-2 in
double-overtime in their only game of the week. Junior defender
Andrew Loughnane scored Caldwell's first goal. An own goal in the
59th minute tied the game for Caldwell, marking the second time
this season that the Cougars have been credited with an own goal.
Caldwell hosts Bloomfield Thursday and Goldey-Beacom Saturday in
CACC contests this week.
Holy Family - Holy Family defeated Chestnut Hill, 4-3 in double
overtime, in its only contest last week. Jeff Wimsey recorded the
game-winning goal and two assists in the contest. Seydou Ba and
Jason Lopez also scored in the win. Tim Weglicki and Ba are leading
the Tigers with seven goals each. Weglicki holds the team lead in
points with 18. This week, the Tigers visit Goldey-Beacom on
Tuesday and host Concordia on Saturday.
Nyack - Joel Bicknell (Sandown, NH) had an outstanding week for the Warriors, totaling two goals and two assists in a 2-0 week. Bobby Caskran (Valrico, FL) also registered a pair of goals and an assist for the week. Goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez (Toronto, Canada) recorded two shutouts, pushing his season total to five.
Philadelphia - The Rams dropped a 4-3 match at #23 Wilmington in
their only played contest of the week. The team will face Concordia
Monday (10/19) in a rescheduled contest from last week at PhilaU at
3:00 p.m.
