POST AND HOLY FAMILY TO PLAY FOR CACC MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP

Post's Eurica Trowers

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Post University and Holy Family University, the fourth and sixth seeds at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Tournament, will play for the championship after their upset victories in today's semi-final round.  Post defeated top-seeded Caldwell 2-0 for the right to play for the title, while Holy Family got past No. 2 Dominican, 3-1.

The Eagles and Tigers will meet on Saturday at 8:00 pm at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School near the campus of Chestnut Hill College. Post defeated Holy Family 5-2 on Oct. 18 in Waterbury in their regular-season meeting. This will be Holy Family's second straight appearance in the championship game. The Tigers fell to Wilmington in the 2007 championship in a penalty-kick shootout.

After squandering a 2-0 lead just a week and a half ago in an eventual 2-2 tie against Caldwell, Post (13-4-3) made it's two goals stand up today in its victory over the top-seeded Cougars. The Eagles received goals from freshman Francis Eno and junior Eurica Trowers and the defense held strong en route to the triumph.

Eno found the back of the net in the 16th minute and the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Eagles at halftime. Both teams got off five shots in the opening 45 minutes. In the second half, Trowers received a ball from sophomore Frantzy Noze and split two defenders before beating Cougar Keeper, John Plaugic, at 65:38. Caldwell fell to 11-7-1 with the loss.

Post's last appeared in the CACC Tournamnet Championship game came in 2006, when the Eagles lost 1-0 to Dominican.

Holy Family (9-11-1) scored two goals in the first 15:46 on the way to its 3-1 victory over Dominican in today's semi-final match.  It took only 32 seconds for the Tigers to take the lead. Freshman forward Tim Weglicki took a feed from senior midfielder Matt Kocher and made his way around the keeper for an open net goal. Junior midfielder Tim Dugan also earned as assist on the play.

Dugan scored Holy Family’s second goal at 15:46 after a pass from Kocher.

Dominican (11-4-2) broke through on a Dan Kelly goal at 77:30 with a shot from 16 yards away that found the upper right corner. However, Weglicki slammed the door with a breakaway goal after a turnover by the Charger defense at 83:09.

Tiger senior keeper Chuck Bernard was strong in goal by making seven saves. Dominican freshman keeper Brandon Heembrock came up with four saves.
