RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Recent high-school graduate Mike Azzato of Staten Island, N.Y., signed a national letter of intent for men's soccer with Felician College during the recently-concluded NCAA signing period, Felician head coach Patrick Snyder announced today. Additionally, Felician freshman Carlos Canido of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, inked an athletic financial aid agreement to play for the Golden Falcons.

Azzato is a 2008 graduate of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High, where he was a captain and a Staten Island Advance All-Star as a senior. He helped the Vikings to the 2007 New York City ‘B' championship. A 5-foot-10, 155-pound midfielder/forward, Azzato has played at the club level for the Brooklyn Italians. He intends to major in business administration.

Canido enrolled at Felician for the spring 2008 semester, sixth months after completing a postgraduate year at St. Benedict's Prep of Newark. A 6-foot-1, 158-pound midfielder/goalkeeper, he helped the Grey Bees to the 2006 Prep A state championship and a No. 1 national ranking with a 20-0 record. Prior to attending St. Benedict's, he won a club championship while playing for Tahuichi Academy in his native Bolivia. Canido, who now resides in Elizabeth, is undecided a major course of study.

Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons are coming off a won-lost-tied record of 3-14-3 in 2007.
