NEW HAVEN, CT - Edwin Miranda of Dominican College has picked up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 1. Freshman Jonathan Costa of Caldwell College earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Miranda, a 5-5 sophomore midfielder from Stamford, CT, tallied a goal in each of Dominican's impressive victories last week, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 triumph over preseason No. 1 Franklin Pierce University. He also scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University.

Costa, a 6-2 freshman forward from Mississauga, Ontario, netted the game-tying goal to spark a comeback in an eventual 2-1 win over Saint Anselm. The goal was the first of his career.

Honorable Mention

Eurica Trowers, Post (Jr., F, 5-9, Bronx, NY) - Tallied one goal and one assist in a 2-1 victory over New Haven to open the season.

Daniel Ocampo, Nyack (So., M, Mexico City, Mexico) - Registered three goals in two games, including two in a win over Kutztown.

Sargbah Tarpeh, Wilmington (Jr., F, Philadelphia, PA) - Scored both of WU's goals in a 1-0-1 week, including the game-winner vs. Lock Haven.

Evans Tageo, Bloomfield (Jr., F, 6-0, Ghana) - Scored a hat trick in a tough 5-4, 2 OT loss to UMass-Lowell.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars opened the 2008 campaign in New Hampshire, defeating St. Anselm College 2-1 on Aug. 28, before falling to Southern New Hampshire 3-0 on Aug. 30. Senior defender Kagiso Rhenoster scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute against St. Anselm. Freshman forward Jonathan Costa also found the net at St. Anselm for his first career goal.

Felician - Felician's 1-0 victory at Saint Michael's on Saturday was its first win over a Northeast-10 Conference opponent since Sept. 25, 2004, a 2-1 home triumph over Bryant (0-14-3 in that stretch). Senior GK Paulo DosSantos batted a shot over the crossbar an instant before the final horn sounded to preserve the win. Senior M Boris Shabovta was named to the all-tournament team of the Saint Michael's DoubleTree Kick Off Classic. In Friday's 2-1 loss to Merrimack, he assisted on the Golden Falcons' only goal and made a "team save" to preserve what was then a 1-1 tie.

Holy Family - The Holy Family men's soccer team is 0-2 after the first weekend of the season. The young Tigers opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Millersville on August 28 in the Wilmington (Del.) Tournament. On August 29, Le Moyne defeated Holy Family, 4-0. This week, Holy Family will have its home opener against #7 East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, September 3. Then, the team will hold the Holy Family Classic on September 6 and 7. The Tigers face the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday and the College of Saint Rose on Sunday.

Philadelphia - The Rams entered NCAA Division II and CACC play with a tough overtime loss to Millersville in the Wilmington University Tournament. The Rams could not find the back of the net through two periods and the Marauders took the win just minutes into the extra stanza.
