HOLY FAMILY MEN'S SOCCER SIGNS 11 FOR 2008 SEASON

PHILADELPHIA, PA-Holy Family University men's soccer head coach Michael Bradby announced the signing of 11 high school seniors to play for soccer for the University. The recruiting class is comprised of four student-athletes from Archbishop Ryan, two from Conwell-Egan and Council Rock North and one from Archbishop Carroll, North Catholic and Pennsbury.
"As a group, this recruiting class has all the ingredients to provide a healthy environment on the pitch to compete for starting roles within the squad," said Bradby. "This is a group that is self-motivated, wants to succeed at the highest level and is fully committed. I am really excited about this class, both on the field and in the classroom. They are quality people and academically strong."
Midfielders Jason Hackett, Bill George and Conor Rodgers and goalkeeper Ozni Rocha make up the group from Archbishop Ryan.
Hackett was an All-Catholic League first team selection in his senior season. He was also the team's MVP. George was tabbed as a second team All-Catholic League selection in his senior campaign. Rodgers was named to the All-Catholic League third team. All three players were team captains and three-year starters. Rocha was a two-year starter in goal.
Backs Philip Barker and Michael Miller will join the Tigers after playing at Conwell-Egan.
Barker was a two-time All-Catholic League and Gold-Team second team player. In his senior season, he was the team's defensive player of the year, MVP, as well as a team captain. Miller was a three-year varsity starter. He was named the team's defender of the year twice.
Midfielders Dennis Park and Ryan McNamee are from Council Rock North, the 2006 Pennsylvania State Champions. Park was an All-Suburban League first team player in his senior season. In 2005 and 2007, he was selected by his coaches as the team player of the year. He spent three years in the Olympic Development Program. McNamee was a two-time All-Suburban League and Gold Team first team selection. As a sophomore, he was named to the All-Suburban League third team.
Timothy Weglicki is a forward from Archbishop Carroll. He tallied 69 goals and 41 assists in his career. In his junior and senior seasons, he earned Main Line Player of the Year, All-Catholic League first team, All-Delaware County first team, and All-Main Line first team accolades. He was also an All-Southeastern Pennsylvania team selection and the National Rotary Club player of the year.
Back Billy Dolan was an All-Catholic League third team selection at North Catholic. Forward Marc Fisher was a two-year starter and a team captain while playing for Pennsbury.
The Holy Family University men's soccer team opens the 2008 campaign at the Wilmington University Tournament on Thursday, August 28, against Millersville University at 1:30 p.m. in Wilmington, Del.
