Connolly Perfect From The Line Earns CACC Player Of The Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Jim Connolly of Philadelphia has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week. USciences' Garret Kerr is named CACC Rookie of the Week.

CACC Player of the Week

Jim Connolly, Philadelphia (Jr., G, 6-3, Harleysville, PA)  Scored 47 total points on the week while shooting 17 of 17 from the free throw line to help Philadelphia pick up two victories. 

CACC Rookie of the Week

Garret Kerr, USciences (Fr., G, 6-3, Moorestown, NJ) Recorded his fourth straight double-double. Scoring 23 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Third consecutive game with 15+ rebounds. This is his second CACC Weekly Honor.

Honorable Mention

Argelix Gil, Concordia (Jr., F, 6-5, Brooklyn, NY) - Averaged 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds against NE-10 opponents. 

Michael Balkovic, Caldwell (Fr., F, 6-6, Neptune, NJ) - Collected a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Dowling.

Nick Schlitzer, Philadelphia (Fr., G, 6-5, Pottsville, PA) - Helped the Rams pick up two victories by averaging 13.0 points and shooting 50% from the floor. 

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons improved to 9-5 overall with their sixth-straight victory this week, a home triumph over Northeast-Ten opponent Saint Anselm College.  Senior forward Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.) led the way with 17 points and five rebounds in the win, while rookie guard Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) totaled 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in a solid all-around effort.  Sophomore guard Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) added 13 points of his own in the victory, while forward Kevin Udo (West Orange, N.J.) tallied 11 points and nine rebounds.  Senior point guard Ahmad Harris (Linden, N.J.) notched nine points, a game-high 13 rebounds and three assists to go with a pair of steals.


Caldwell
- Caldwell earned a lopsided 92-56 victory over Dowling on Wednesday in the team's only action last week. Senior guard Nikola Otovic led the Cougars with 16 points and six assists, while freshman forward Michael Balkovic notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. Caldwell dished out a season-best 23 assists and shot 54.5 percent from the field, including 64.0 percent after halftime. The Cougars' 8-4 start is the team's best record before New Year's Day since the 2001-02 squad opened the season at 9-2. Caldwell hosts CACC foes Concordia on Thursday and Wilmington on Saturday this week.


Concordia
- Concordia went 0-2 this past week as they played against two talented teams from the NE-10, Bentley and Mass.-Lowell on back-to-back nights. With their non-conference schedule behind them, the Clippers will now focus on the CACC schedule which with continue on Thursday with a showdown with Caldwell College. In their Dec. 8th meeting, the Cougars narrowly came away with an 80-78 win. Concordia will conclude the week with a home game against Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 pm.


Holy Family
- Junior Khiry Hankins averaged 19.0 points and shot .500 percent from the field (13-26) last week at the East Region Classic hosted by Philadelphia University.  Against Assumption College, Hankins scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Tigers' offense.  He shot 10-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-12 from deep range.
