Former Deacon Gage Daye signs with NBA Development League
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (December
8, 2011) - Former Bloomfield College men's
basketball guard Gage
Daye (Newark, N.J.) has been signed
to play for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League,
the team announced Thursday, December 8.
Arguably the best player in Bloomfield College history, Daye
became the school's all-time leading scorer during his senior
season, surpassing Andre Dabney's career mark. A first team
All-America selection by Daktronics, Basketball Times Magazine and
the Division II Bulletin as a senior, the two-time CACC Player of
the Year led Bloomfield to its first CACC Tournament championship
since 2006 during his senior campaign in 2010-2011, and to the
first Elite Eight in program history. His incredible play in
the postseason saw the 6'2 sharpshooter earn CACC Tournament, and
East Regional Tournament MVP honors. During his brilliant
career, Daye also earned Daktronics East Region Player of the Year
honors, and well as an All-Met Player of the year
selection.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for Gage, and he certainly
deserves it," Bloomfield head coach Gerald
Holmes said. "He has worked extremely hard
to get to this point, and we couldn't be more proud of him.
His is a tremendous player with an outstanding work ethic, and I
have no doubt he'll be successful. We wish him the best of
luck and he continues his career at the next level."
Serving as the primary minor league affiliate to the National
Basketball Assocation (NBA), the Development League consists of 16
teams located throughout the United States. The Mad Ants
serve as the minor league affiliate for the NBA's Detroit Pistons,
Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks.
Daye will take the court for the first time as a member of
the Mad Ants Friday, December 9, when the team hosts the
Springfield Armor. Tip-off for the contest is set for 7:30
PM.
