Bloomfield Rallies From Down 17 For 72-63 Win in CACC Men's Basketball Semifinals
BLOOMFIELD-PHILADELPHIA BOXSCORE - CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL SEMIFINAL #1
CALDWELL, N.J. (March 2, 2012) – Bloomfield College (#1 North) rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to post a 72-63 win over Philadelphia University (#2 South) in the first men's basketball semifinal at the Central Atlantic Conference Tournament at Caldwell College on Friday afternoon. The game featured four ties and six lead changes.
The Deacons will advance to Saturday's CACC Men's Final at 4:00 p.m. (ET) where it will face the winner of Friday's other semifinal between Goldey-Beacom and Dominican.
Philadelphia (23-7) took the lead at the 9:26 mark of the opening half on a 3-point field goal by All-CACC First Team choice Jim Connolly. Connolly led the Rams offensive surge in the first half as he notched 18 points while shooting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.
Connolly gave the Rams its biggest lead at 17 points with another three-pointer at 17:32 of the second.
Bloomfield (23-7) rallied to take the lead for good at the 6:57 mark of the second half on a pair of free throws by Marvin Williams, who finished a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.
Also leading the surge for Bloomfield was CACC Co-Player of the Year, Ahmad Harris, who registered 12 of his 14 points during the second-half run. All-CACC second team selection Matt Wafula, finished with a game-high 26, 15 of which came during the final 20 minutes.
