DAYE NAMED MEN'S HOOPS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Bloomfield College's Gage Daye added another honor to his senior campaign as he earned CACC Player of the Week distinction after being named the Tournament MVP on March 5 by leading the Deacons to the CACC Championship. Khadim Ndiaye from Chestnut Hill College received CACC Rookie of the Week accolades for his play throughout the tournament.

Gage Daye Daye, the 6-2 guard from Newark, N.J., averaged 27.0 points throughout three CACC Tournament games while shooting 81-percent from the free-throw line (35-43). He also averaged 5.0 assists and 6.0 boards per-game. He netted 24 points and added five rebounds in the championship game. He poured in 31 points in the quarter-finals against Felician, and became the school's all-time leading scorer in the game.

Ndiaye, a 6-5 forward from Long Beach, N.Y., poured in 23 points in a CACC Tournament semi-final loss to Bloomfield, shooting 10-for-20 from the field. He also pulled down seven rebounds as the Griffins nearly upset the Deacons, losing 82-80.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons captured the CACC Tournament Championship for the fourth time since 2003 Saturday evening, topping the Goldey Beacom College Lightning to earn the third NCAA Tournament berth in program history. Senior guard Gage Daye earned Tournament MVP honors, netting 24 points, five rebounds and four assists in the finale. Senior guard Ryan Rodrigues totaled 20 points in the championship victory, while Matt Wafula tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds, each player earning All-Tournament Team honors. The Deacons will travel to Bentley University for the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 12. The team will take on American International College in the first round, and will play the winner of the matchup between Stonehill College and Adelphi University should they advance.

Chestnut Hill - The Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team finished the 2010-2011 season with the program's best record since joining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II in 2007; 12-16 overall, 8-9 in CACC play. They ended their season the program's first-ever appearance in the CACC Semifinals, falling one shot shy (82-80) of reaching the league's championship game. Junior forward Dan Comas (Philadelphia, PA) represented the Griffins on the CACC All-Conference Team with a Second Team selection. He finished the CACC regular season as the league leader in rebounding (10.2/gm) while also ranking among the league's top ten scorers (7th, 16.5 PPG). Junior guard Uros Kovacevic (Kotor, Montenegro) was named to the CACC All-Tournament Team after a 15-of-20 (75.0%) two-game shooting performance in the league's postseason. He was 9-of-12 (75.0%) from long range and 6-of-6 (100.0%) from the line, while averaging six rebounds per contest.

Dominican - Dominican ended the season with a 16-13 overall record and a 12-5 conference mark. Senior Almin Hodzic earned All-CACC first team honors, while sophomore Leon Porter was named to the second team and Khaleev Ginyard was selected co-Rookie of the Year.
