Orangeburg, NY (1/22/11)  The Dominican College men's basketball team won its third straight and ninth of its last 10 games Saturday afternoon after charging past visiting Nyack College, 73-58, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game which was nationally televised from the  sold-out Hennessy Center on the CBS College Sports Network.

The Chargers, who improve to 9-8 overall and 5-2 in the CACC, never trailed while shooting 54.0% (27-50) from the floor during the contest and out-rebounding the Warriors (2-14. 0-8 CACC), 31-20.

Before a capacity crowd of 1,000, DC opened up the scoring with the game's first seven points on a Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) three point basket and back-to-back buckets from junior forward Michael Calzonetti (Gloucester, NY) in front of a raucous sold-out crowd.

Dominican held a 19-9 advantage with 12:16 on the clock, but Nyack fought back with a 12-2 tear to tie the game, 21-21.  The Chargers came back to close out the remaining 8:26, out-scoring the Warriors, 18-8, to take a 39-29 advantage at intermission.

Leading 54-44 with 11:48 left in regulation, DC used an 11-2 spurt, highlighted by back-to-back Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) and capped off by three straight points from sophomore forward Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) to increase the lead to 19 points (65-46).  In the remaining 5:29 of the game, NC outscored the Chargers, 12-8, but the Warriors couldn't get within 15 points.

Hodzic, the reigning CACC Player of the Week, led all scorers and recorded the game's only double-double with 20 points and 13 points to tally his fifth straight and seventh double-double of the season.

Calzonetti finished with a season high 15 points, shooting 7-8 from the floor, while Porter scored 14 points and had a game leading six assists.
