ADEFEMI NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE/COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 4, 2011) - University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men's basketball player Adewale Adefemi has been named to the 2010 Capital One College Division Academic All-District 2 Men's Basketball Team as a Second Team Selection chosen by the District 2 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members.

Adefemi (Winslow Township High School/Chesilhurst, N.J.) is the first men's basketball player in program history to earn a spot on a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.  The CoSIDA District 2 College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and District of Columbia. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.30 grade point average and a starter or significant reserve on his or her team.   

A pharmaceutical marketing and management major, Adefemi is currently in his fourth and final season of play for the Devils.  Adewale has earned Dean's List honors five times in his seven semesters at the University of the Sciences and currently has a 3.53 grade point average.  

Starting in all 17 games for the Devils this season, Adefemi leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.  'Wale is also tied for the team lead with 11 blocks and is second on the team in field goal percentage, shooting 47.6% from the field. 

The former Winslow Township High School athlete is a two-time CACC All-Conference selection, earning third team honors in 2008-09 and second team honors last season.  He ranks 21st of the Devils all-time scoring list with 1,290 career points and eighth on USciences' all-time rebounds chart with 780.  This total includes 323 offensive rebounds which is the second highest career total in program history. 

Adefemi was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the week ending January 23, 2011 and has been named to the conference honor roll four times during the season.  He is currently ranked seventh in the league in scoring and fourth in rebounding as well as 15th in field goal percentage.  Nationally, Adefemi ranks 22nd in rebounding amongst all NCAA Division II players. He also earned the Philadelphia Small College Coaches Association's Sam Cozen Player of the Week honors on December 7, 2010. 

Adewale is on course to graduate from the University of the Sciences in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management.
