BLOOMFIELD'S DAYE TABBED CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Gage Daye of Bloomfield College has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 3. Trevon Hamlet of Post University was the pick for Rookie of the Week accolades.

Daye, a 6-2 junior guard who hails from Newark, NJ, registered averages of 31.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.66 steals per-game in a 2-1 week. He exploded for 35 points, seven rebounds and five steals against Adelphi and added 32 points, six rebounds and five assists in a win over American International. He shot 50-percent (30-for-60) from the field for the week and 39-percent (7-for-18) from long range.

Hamlet, a 6-6 freshman forward from Brooklyn, NY, averaged 20.5 points, 7.25 rebounds and 1.75 blocks per-game in four contests over the break. He posted 24 points and 12 rebounds against Saint Anselm and recorded 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting against AIC. He shot 61.4-percent (35-for-57) from the floor for the week.

Honorable Mention

Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (So., F, 6-9, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Posted averages of 25.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in two games.

Antoine Obery, Felician (So., G, 6-4, Roselle, NJ) - Averaged 16.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per-game in a 2-0 week.

Malcolm Ingram, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 6-4, Philadelphia, PA) -Averaged 18.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per-game in a 1-2 week.

William Eason, Concordia (Jr., F, 6-7, Springfield, MA) - In four games over the break, averaged 14.25 points and 14.25 rebounds per-game.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons improved to 8-3 on the season last week. Junior guard Gage Daye posted a pair of 30-point performances, going for 32 in a 99-83 victory over AIC and 35 in an 81-66 setback against Adelphi. Senior Chris Sampson posted his second 20-plus point effort of the season with a 21-point effort in an 88-68 win over New Haven. The win over AIC moved BC to 4-0 at home on the season, making them a perfect 16-0 in the Deacons' Den since the beginning of last season.

Caldwell - The Cougars picked up their first win of the season on Sunday at Dominican's James Clancy Tournament, defeating Mercy 73-50. Senior forward Matt Cohen registered 18 points and a career-best 12 rebounds while making 9-of-11 from the field to lead Caldwell. The victory ends an 11-game losing skid that included the final two games of last season. This week the Cougars resume CACC play with games at Post on Tuesday and at home against Felician on Thursday.

Dominican - Junior center Almin Hodzic averaged a double-double last week with 13.5 points and 11.3 rebounds per-game in four contests. Freshman guard Leon Porter chipped in with 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per-game.

Felician - Felician has won 11 consecutive home games dating back to last season. Junior F/G Devon Young has 11 three-point field goals this season to push his career total to 103. He is the seventh player in program history to surpass 100. Senior C/F Ethan Kennedy's career-high 27 points vs. NYIT on Jan. 2 came in 25 minutes.

Holy Family - Holy Family (0-10) dropped a pair of contests to Northeast-10 competition over the holiday break. The Tigers fell to Stonehill (76-55) and Assumption (100-94 in overtime). In the two contests, forward Justin Swidowski averaged 25 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two contests. Against Assumption, Swidowski recorded 28 points and 20 rebounds. It was the first 20 rebound game for a Tiger since Jim Gamble had 24 against USP on February 5, 2003. This week, Holy Family takes on USP (Tue.), Chestnut Hill (Thu.) and Dominican (Sat.)

Nyack - The Warriors stand at 6-6 overall and 1-0 in CACC play heading into the second semester. The team welcomes back James Oyamo, who missed four games with a knee injury. He returned with some strong minutes, averaging 11 points and 7.0 rebounds per-game at the Adelphi Classic. The Warriors have a busy upcoming schedule with home games versus Concordia (January 7) and USP (January 9) and a road contest at Caldwell on January 11.

Philadelphia - The Rams suffered their first and second losses to opponents from the Northeast-10 Conference over the holiday breather, but picked up a ‘W' over Pace. The maroon and gray were in every contest, losing by a margin of just 6.5 points. The squad is looking ahead to Saturday's (1/9/10) CACC match-up against Felician College at 4 p.m., which will be preceded by an alumni game and the dedication of the new ‘Bill Keane Locker Room'.

Post - Post University will host Caldwell on Tuesday night in search of its first conference win of the season. The last time the Eagles played a conference game was on December 12th against Nyack on the road.
