FREDERICK COLLECTS CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Philadelphia University's Russell Frederick has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 24. University of the Sciences in Philadelphia guard William Kernan has been selected Rookie of the Week.  

Frederick, a 6-1 senior guard from Baltimore, MD, averaged 27.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per-game in a 2-0 week for the Rams. He shot 55-percent (17-for-31) from the field and an impressive 53-percent (10-for-19) from the three-point arc. He posted 31 points, five assists and four steals in a victory over Holy Family and added 24 points, six rebounds and four assists at Dominican.

Kernan, a 6-4 freshman guard from Medford, NJ, filled the box score last week with averages of 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals per-game in a 1-1 week. He nearly notched a triple-double against Chestnut Hill with nine points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Furthermore, he added 21 points and four assists at Felician.

Honorable Mention

William Eason, Concordia (Jr., F, 6-7, Springfield, MA) - Recorded 14.3 points and 15.0 rebounds per-game in a 2-1 week for the Clippers.

Gage Daye, Bloomfield (Jr., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) - Averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per-game in a 2-0 week for the Deacons.

Brandon Savage, Wilmington (So., F, 6-5, Philadelphia, PA) - Registered 17.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per-game while shooting 75-percent from the floor. Aundrae Williams, Nyack (Sr., G, 6-6, St. Louis, MO) - Averaged 16.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per-game in a 2-1 week. Shot 58-percent from the field.

Antoine Obery, Felician (So., G, 6-4, Roselle, NJ) - Posted a double-double for the week with averages of 11.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists per-game.

CACC Notes 

Bloomfield - The Deacons kept their CACC record unblemished with two wins last week, downing Felician and Nyack. Junior guard Gage Daye paced the offense against Felician with 26 points, five assists and four steals. In the win over Nyack, senior Chris Sampson enjoyed his best performance of the season with an outstanding 21-point, 17-rebound effort. Bloomfield has won 20 straight home games.

Caldwell - The Cougars followed up Thursday's 76-67 overtime loss to Concordia with a 93-76 victory over Goldey-Beacom on Saturday. Sophomore guard Malcolm Austin had a career-high 27 points, while sophomore center Peter Diffley and junior guard Antonio Brimley both registered 19 points. Diffley made all nine of his attempts from the field as the Cougars shot a season-best 58.9 percent to hand the Lightning its first CACC loss of the season. The win also ended a four-game losing streak for Caldwell, which began the week with an 81-69 defeat at Chestnut Hill. The Cougars are on the road at Nyack on Thursday and at Holy Family on Saturday.

Concordia - Concordia's victory at Caldwell last week marked the first win of the season and was the first-ever conference victory for the Clippers.

Felician - Felician is 6-0 at home this season and is riding a 13-game home winning streak. The Golden Falcons scored 24 consecutive second-half points in Thursday's win over Dominican. Sophomore F Andrew August grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds as Felician defeated USP on Saturday.

Nyack - Senior guard Aundrae Williams scored his 1,000th career point in the loss at Bloomfield and currently stands at 1,021. He did this at two institutions but under the same coach in Ted Quinn. The Warriors begin another 3-game week with a big road game at Felician on January 26, followed by a home contest with Caldwell January 28 and wrap up the week on the road at Chestnut Hill on January 30.

Philadelphia - The Rams have won four straight contests and will face three CACC battles this week.

Post - With the win over Chestnut Hill, Post University freshman Trevon Hamlet now has scored over 300 points in his rookie season. This week, the Eagles prepare for two home games against Bloomfield on Tuesday night and Felician on Thursday. It will be the first time Post plays Bloomfield this season. The Eagles faced Felician earlier in the season and fell 80-77 in Rutherford, NJ.

USP - Will Kernan (Medford, N.J.) recorded career high marks of 21 points and five steals in USP's loss to Felician on Saturday. Kernan also flirted with a triple-double on Thursday, recording nine points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.Senior Curtis Fitch (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) had a season-high four blocks vs. Chestnut Hill. With his five blocks this week, Fitch moved into 10th place on the Devils all-time list with 71 for his career. USP's three-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday with the loss to Felician. Adewale Adefemi (Chesilhurst, N.J.) is ranked 55th nationally in rebounding, pulling down 8.6 per game. USP is now second in the CACC in scoring defense (64.3 points/game) and ranked 39th nationally. The Devils also rank 52nd nationally in field goal percentage defense (40.8%) and 21st in fewest personal fouls per game (15.7).
