FELICIAN'S YOUNG TABBED MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Devon Young of Felician College has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week after the first week of action of the 2009-10 season. Post University's Trevon Hamlet was chosen Rookie of the Week.

Young, a 6-3 junior forward from Monmouth Junction, NJ, posted 31 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Golden Falcons to a season-opening win at Southern Connecticut State University. He shot 12-for-17 from the field and 2-for-3 from long range.

Hamlet, a 6-6 freshman forward from Brooklyn, NY, registered 20 points and nine rebounds in his first collegiate game at No. 9 Bentley College. He shot 10-for-17 from the field.

Honorable Mention

Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (Sr., G, 6-1, Baltimore, MD) - Averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games at the Disney Classic.

Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (So., F, 6-9, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Posted a career-high 36 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Saint Anselm.

Gage Daye, Bloomfield (Jr., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) - Recorded 20 points, six rebounds and four steals in a loss at Saint Rose.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars opened the 2009-2010 season with a 63-48 loss to Le Moyne College in a non-conference game. Sophomore guard Nik Otovic recorded 15 points and two steals, while junior guard Antonio Brimley had 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in his first game as a Cougar. Brimley was one of seven players to make their debut for the Scarlet, White and Gold on Sunday. Caldwell plays another Northeast-10 Conference school on Saturday, Nov. 21, when they face UMass.-Lowell.

Felician - Junior swingman Devon Young scored a career-high 31 points in Felician's season-opening road victory against Southern Connecticut on Sunday, making first-year head coach David DeFerrari successful in his Golden Falcon debut.

Holy Family - Holy Family opened its 2009-10 season with a 95-78 loss to St. Anselm on Sunday. Forward Justin Swidowski led the Tiger offense with a career-high 36 points to go with 12 rebounds. Guard Kahlil Mumford added a career-high 26 points with seven assists and two rebounds in his first game with Holy Family. Holy Family's four-game homestand continues on Saturday, November 21 against Bentley at 2 p.m.

Philadelphia - The PhilaU Rams received several national preseason rankings, the highest a #19 spot from the DII Bulletin. Off to a 1-2 start after playing several highly regarded teams at the Disney Tip-Off Classic, Coach Magee and his defending CACC Champion Rams return four senior starters from last season. The team also had two preseason All-American selections, senior guard Russell Frederick and senior forward Malcolm Ingram. PhilaU begins CACC action this Wednesday (11/18) in a game at Chestnut Hill College at 8:00 pm.
