DAYE'S BIG WEEK LEADS TO CACC PLAYER OF WEEK AWARD

NEW HAVEN, CT - Gage Daye of Bloomfield College has been named
the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week
for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 22. Trevon Hamlet of Post
University was the pick for Rookie of the Week.
Daye, a 6-2 junior guard from Newark, NJ, was named MVP of the Alaska-Fairbanks Tournament by averaging 32.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.67 steals per-game in three contests. He surpassed the 1,000-point plateau against California (PA) during a 35-point outburst. He shot 52-percent (33-for-63) from the field for the week and 84-percent (26-for-31) from the charity stripe. He tallied 33 points, five assists, three rebounds and one block against Alaska-Fairbanks and concluded the week with 29 points and six steals in a non-conference contest against Dominican College.
Hamlet, a 6-6 freshman forward from Brooklyn, NY, earned Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week. He averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.67 assists per-game while shooting 50-percent (20-for-40) from the field in a 2-1 week for the Eagles. He posted 26 points and seven rebounds in a win at Bridgeport and added 20 points and six rebounds at Franklin Pierce.
Honorable Mention
Malcolm Ingram, Philadelphia (Sr., F, 6-4, Philadelphia, PA) - Led Phila.U to a 2-0 week with averages of 20 ppg and 9.5 rpg while shooting 50% from the field.
Devon Young, Felician (Jr., F, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) - Was named MVP of the Johnson C. Smith Tournament, averaging 18.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 3.0 apg.
Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (So., F, 6-9, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Registered averages of 21 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per-game in two contests.
James Oyamo, Nyack (Jr., F, 6-5, Nairobi, Kenya) - Averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 55.8% from the field in three contests.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - The Deacons made the most of their trip to Alaska, winning the Alaska Fairbanks Invitational with victories over California University (PA) and Dominican. Junior guard Gage Daye was named the tournament MVP, averaging 32.2 points per-game. Other notable performances include back-to-back solid performances off the bench by forward Emery Mitchell, and a 13-point performance by forward Jeff Sawyerr in a loss to Fairbanks. Daye's 35 points against Cal put him over 1,000 career points for his career.
Caldwell - The Cougars lost a non-conference game at UMass-Lowell, 75-60 in their only action of the week. Junior forward Tyler Emmons, who missed all of last year due to injury, recorded team highs of 14 points and eight rebounds. It was his first game since Mar. 5, 2008. Senior guard John Reed added 11 points, including three three-pointers, and freshman guard Robert McPherson had 10 points. Caldwell's next game is Monday, Nov. 30 against Cheyney.
Chestnut Hill - Chestnut Hill College opened their season at home for the first time in program history and did so with a 15-point win over Bloomsburg University, 68-53. At the Doc Jacob's Classic, senior Julian McFadden reached 1,000-career points with a pair of late free throws in a win against Mercyhurst College.
Dominican - Freshman Leon Porter was named to the Alaska-Fairbanks All-Tournament Team with averages of 13.0 points, 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per-game.
Felician - Felician is 3-0 for the first time in program history. Junior G/F Devon Young was named the MVP of the Johnson C. Smith Tip-Off Classic, during which the Golden Falcons defeated the nationally-ranked hosts, 72-68. Senior F/C Ethan Kennedy was chosen for the All-Tournament Team.
Holy Family - Holy Family dropped a pair of games to NABC Top 15 teams this past weekend. On Saturday, the Tigers lost to ninth-ranked Bentley University, 91-65. Forward Justin Swidowski led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks, tying a career-high. Guard Kahlil Mumford added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. On Sunday, Holy Family fell to 15th ranked Merrimack, 87-81. Mumford had 20 points and a career-high 14 assists. His 14 assists ranks fourth on the HFU list for assists in a game. Forward Ismaila Traore had career-highs with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Swidowski added 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Holy Family returns to the court to take on Indiana (Pa.) on Sunday, November 29 at 2 p.m.
Nyack - The Warriors (1-2) first three games of the 2009-10 campaign have been decided by a combined total of five points. In Wednesday's 89-88 OT loss to Dowling, Jose Lopez drained eight 3-pointers in the losing effort, totaling a team-high 28 points.
Philadelphia - The roof at the Gallagher Athletic Center may
need to be checked after the #25 Philadelphia University Rams blew
the top off in a 68-64 win over visiting #15 Merrimack College on
Saturday afternoon. In a standing room only crowd, PhilaU Head
Coach Herb Magee was honored for 50 years at the University as his
Rams upset the nationally-ranked Warriors. Earlier in the week,
Magee's squad traveled down the road for an inter-city battle vs.
Chestnut Hill. PhilaU earned a 62-51 win. The Rams host St. Thomas
Aquinas College on Tuesday (11/24) at 8 p.m. and then travel to
Millersville on Saturday (11/28) for a post-turkey day brouhaha at
3 p.m.
