Waterbury, Conn. (July 16, 2009) - Post University men's
basketball has been one of the top programs in the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) over the past few seasons under the
leadership of Head Coach Mike Donnelly. The 2009-2010 season
features an even brighter future with the addition of graduate
student Jon Lucky.
Lucky becomes the first graduate student to play on the Post University Eagles Men's Basketball team. The Waterbury native has 3 years of college experience while competing for the University of Rhode Island, a Division I school.
"I look at this as a great opportunity to get my Master's Degree in Human Services and add to the Post University basketball program," said Lucky. "I wasn't planning on playing basketball, but when this opportunity arose I took advantage of it."
Lucky graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2008 with a communications degree. He was a two year starter who red-shirted his senior year due to injury. As a junior, Lucky registered 6.5 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game.
"Jon is a multi-dimensional player who does a great job making his teammates around him better," said Donnelly. "He combines great ball handling and passing skills in addition to impressive size and strength which will present tough match-ups at this level."
As a high school student, Lucky played at Sacred Heart and was a Top 150 National Recruit. He is continuing his education at Post University in the Master of Sciences in Human Services degree.
"I am excited to have a local player of his caliber decide to finish his collegiate career at Post University," added Donnelly.
The 2009-2010 basketball season will get underway on the road November 18th against Franklin Pierce University.
