WATERBURY, CT (July 23, 2009) - Trevon Hamlet , a 6-6 incoming freshman, is the latest addition to Post University's men's basketball program for the 2009-2010 season, adding to an already powerful lineup.
"We are very excited Trevon has decided to attend Post University in the fall," said Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Donnelly. "He has been a top recruiting priority for our program for several months. He is an excellent recruit for our program."
Hamlet played for Bishop Loughlin, which is one of the best basketball programs in New York City and will add to the inside presence for the Eagles.
"(I want to) come in and contribute as a freshman and help the team win anyway I can," said Hamlet.
Hamlet had his eye on playing at the Division I level and gathered attention from Quinnipiac Head Coach Tom Moore, who is a former assistant coach for Jim Calhoun at Connecticut. Moore was instrumental in recruiting for the Huskies when they won NCAA Championships in 1999 and 2004.
In his final year playing in high school, Hamlet registered 16 points per-game, (323 points on the season), 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per-game. In addition to Hamlet, Post will return star guard Brandon Romain, who is also from New York City. Hamlet and Romain have competed against each other since they were only 12 years old and now will be playing on the same team in college.
Post will play its first contest on the road against Franklin Pierce on November 18th.
