CHESTNUT HILL'S McFADDEN TALLIES 1,000TH CAREER-POINT

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 24, 2009) - Chestnut Hill College guard Julian McFadden (Philadelphia, Pa.) entered his senior season needing only 44 points to reach 1,000 for his collegiate career. With two late free throws against Mercyhurst College, McFadden etched himself into Chestnut Hill College history as the third Griffin to surpass the 1,00-career point mark. His name will join Shawn Bolling's and Isaac Greer's on the men's all-time scoring banner in Sorgenti Arena.

McFadden opened the season with 12 points in a home win over Bloomsburg University, six points in a loss to Philadelphia University, and then scored 14 points on back-to-back days at the Doc Jacob's Classic. With a pair of free throws late in the win over Mercyhurst College, McFadden passed the 1,000-career point milestone on the final day of the Doc Jacob's Classic. He also grabbed five rebounds and handed out five assists against the Lakers. McFadden scored 46 points in the opening week of the 2009-2010 season and helped lead Chestnut Hill College to a 2-2 start.

As a junior, McFadden directed the Griffins to a birth in the CACC Championship Tournament. He was the team leader scoring (11.6 PPG) and assists (91, 3.4/game) while earning five honorable mentions for the CACC Player of the Week Award. McFadden recorded his career-best performance on January 3rd at Wilmington University with 33 points He connected on 9-of-17 (52.9%) from the field and 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the free throw line. McFadden was selected for the Sam Cozen Player of the Week Award and at season's end and was named an All-CACC Honorable Mention, and the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP). He also garnered the Chestnut Hill College Athletic Director's Award.

McFadden averaged 13.0 PPG as a sophomore and as a freshman he helped the Griffins to an appearance against Villa Julie College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships. McFadden served primarily as the team's "sixth man" averaging 11.8 PPG to finish as the Griffins' third leading scorer. He recorded the fourth best freshman season in program history with 331 total points.
