2008-09 CACC Men's Basketball Weekly Award Winners

November 17

Co-Players of the Week: Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (Jr., G, 6-1, Baltimore, MD) and Anthony Parham, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., F, 6-5, Dover, DE) - Frederick led the Rams to a season-opening road victory at Saint Rose by posting 27 points, including a 16-for-18 performance from the free-throw line. He also added two rebounds and two assists. Parham registered 22 points on 9-for-12 accuracy from the field in a season-opening win at New Haven. He also grabbed four rebounds.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Andrew August, Felician (Fr., F, 6-7, Bridgewater, NJ) and Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Cinnaminson, NJ) - August averaged 13.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in two contests to open the season. Tallied 22 points against Catawba on 9-for-13 shooting. Swidowski averaged 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per-game in two road contests. Scored 16 points along with three rebounds at American International.

November 24

Player and Rookie of the Week: Brandon Romain, Post (Fr., G, 6-3, Brooklyn, NY) - Romain averaged 26.0 points per-game for the week, including a 41-point outburst in a 102-94 victory over Division I South Dakota. Shot 17-for-22 from the field in the game along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Shot 20-for-30 (.667) from the field and 9-for-12 (.750) from the free-throw line for the week.

December 1

Player of the Week: Will Carty, Dominican (Sr., G, 6-1, Bronx, NY) - Led Dominican to a victory over Molloy with an efficient stat-line. Scored 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. Also added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Averaged 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.67 blocks per-game in three contests. Shot 70.4-percent (19-for-27) from the field, including an 8-for-11 performance against Kutztown. Had 16 points, seven rebounds and five blocks against Kutztown and 17 points and nine rebounds in a victory over NYIT.

December 8

Player of the Week: Manny Perez, Caldwell (Sr., F, 6-7 Egg Harbor Township, NJ) - Averaged 24.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per-game in two conference wins over Felician and Goldey-Beacom. Shot 58.3-percent (14-for-24) from the field and 83.3-percent (20-for-24) from the free-throw line. Tallied 24 points, 14 rebounds and three assists in a CACC-opening win over Felician. Followed with another 24-point effort at Goldey-Beacom to go with five rebounds and a 10-for-10 performance from the charity stripe.

Rookie of the Week: Ryan Cook, Chestnut Hill (Fr., G, 6-2, Laurel, MD) - Posted averages of 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per-game while shooting 60.0-percent (9-for-15) from the field and 72.7-percent (8-for-11) from 3-point range in two games. Scored 22 points against East Stroudsburg and tied a school-record by going 7-for-8 from beyond the arc.

December 15

Player of the Week: Omari Knox, Bloomfield (Sr., G, 6-2, Brooklyn, NY) - Led the Deacons to a 2-0 week by averaging 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per-game. Netted 26 points, two rebounds and three steals at Felician and 16 points and eight rebounds at Chestnut Hill. Shot 53.8-percent (7-for-13) from 3-point range and 93.3-percent (14-for-15) from the free-throw line for the week.

Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Averaged 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per-game in two contests last week. Tallied 18 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks versus Wilmington and 15 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks against California (PA).

December 22

Player of the Week: Ethan Kennedy, Felician (Jr., F, 6-7, Albuquerque, NM) - Led Felician to a 2-0 week with averages of 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per-game. Shot 50.0-percent (14-28) from the field for the week and committed only one turnover. Registered 21 points on 9-for-19 shooting, five rebounds and three assists in a victory over Queens. He hit the go-ahead three-point field goal with 34 seconds remaining in the Golden Falcons' triumph.

Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Cinnaminson, NJ) - Averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per-game in two contests and shot 77.8-percent (14-for-18) from the field. Netted 24 points on 10-for-13 shooting and five rebounds at Virginia State.

January 5

Player of the Week: Mike Dunn, Philadelphia (Sr., G, 6-5 Harrisburg, PA) - Tied a CACC record by canning 10 three-point field-goals en route to 32 points and five rebounds at Pace. He helped lead the Rams to a 3-0 week with averages of 19.7 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 57-percent (21-for-37) from the field and 55-percent (17-for-31) from long range.

Rookie of the Week: Robert Young, Bloomfield (Fr., F, 6-4, Bronx, NY) - Averaged 11.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per-game while converting 62-percent (16-for-26) of his field-goal attempts in a 2-1 week. Notched his first career double-double with 16 points (8-10 FG) and 13 rebounds against UMass-Lowell. Also had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists at Pace.

January 12

Player of the Week: Omari Knox, Bloomfield (Sr., G, 6-2, Brooklyn, NY) - Averaged 30.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game in a 2-0 week for the Deacons. Shot 50-percent (18-for-36) from the field and 55-percent (12-for-22) from long range for the week. Posted 33 points and eight rebounds in a road win at Caldwell and followed with 27 points and seven boards in a win over USP.

Rookie of the Week: Ryan Cook, Chestnut Hill (Fr., G, 6-2, Laurel, MD) - Played only one game last week, but it was a memorable one as he narrowly missed a triple-double. Tallied 27 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in a victory over Holy Family. Shot 9-for-13 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range. He added three blocked shots.

January 19

Player of the Week: Gage Daye, Bloomfield (So., 6-2, G, Newark, NJ) - Posted two 30-point games to lead the Deacons to a 3-0 week. For the week, averaged 26.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.33 steals per-game. Poured in 33 points to go with five steals and three rebounds in a win over Dominican and followed with 30 points, four rebounds and three assists in a triumph over the University of the District of Columbia.

Rookie of the Week: Ryan Cook, Chestnut Hill (Fr., G, 6-2, Laurel, MD)- Averaged 19.5 points on 50-percent (15-for-30) shooting from the field and 6.0 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week. Shot 7-for-17 (.412) from three-point range and added 2.0 steals per-contest. Registered 20 points and five boards at Philadelphia.

January 26

Co-Players of the Week: Gage Daye, Bloomfield (So., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) and Manny Perez, Caldwell (Sr., F, 6-7, Egg Harbor, Twp., NJ) - Daye averaged 30.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per-game in a 2-0 week. Poured in 35 points at Goldey-Beacom and followed with 26 points at home against Felician. Shot 53-percent (19-36) from the field for the week and 54.5-percent (6-11) from long range. Perez posted averages of 27.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Registered 35 points and 14 rebounds versus Chestnut Hill and had 19 points and 11 boards at Nyack. Shot 69-percent (20-29) from the field for the week, including a 9-for-11 performance against Nyack.

Rookie of the Week: Brandon Romain, Post (Fr., G, 6-3, Brooklyn, NY) - Registered averages of 23.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per-game while shooting 54.0-percent (20-37) from the field in a 2-0 week. Poured in 28 points in a road victory over Dominican and notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, along with five steals, at Molloy.

February 2

Player of the Week: Malcolm Ingram, Philadelphia (Jr., F, 6-4, Philadelphia, PA) - Averaged a double-double in leading the Rams to a 2-0 week. Posted 17.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per-game and shot 45.8-percent (11-for-24) from the field. Notched 20 points and 14 boards in a home win over Post University.

Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Delran, NJ) - Helped lead Holy Family to a 2-0 week by averaging 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per-game while shooting 60.0-percent (15-for-25) from the field. He registered 21 points and 10 rebounds against Goldey-Beacom and 17 points, eight rebounds and six blocks vs. Felician.

February 9

Player of the Week: Gage Daye, Bloomfield (So., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) - Averaged 25.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.33 steals per-game in a 2-1 week. Poured in at least 22 points in all three games, with a high of 29 at Post. He tallied 25 points on 9-for-20 shooting in a road victory at Philadelphia and added 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds in a win over Nyack.

Rookie of the Week: Ryan Cook, Chestnut Hill (Fr., G, 6-2, Laurel, MD) - Averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and shot 73.7-percent (14-for-19) from the field in a 2-0 week. Tallied 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting and five rebounds against Nyack and 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting, six assists and five boards versus USP.

February 16

Player of the Week: Brandon Romain, Post (Fr., G, 6-3, Brooklyn, NY) - Poured in 42 points to go with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in a double-overtime triumph over Chestnut Hill. Shot 59-percent (13-for-22) from the field and 76.1-percent (16-for-21) from the free-throw line in his only action of the week.

Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Delran, NJ) - Averaged 24.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per-game in two contests last week. Tallied 25 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in a win over Chestnut Hill. Shot 61.5-percent (16-for-26) from the field and 88.9-percent (16-for-18) from the free-throw line for the week.

February 23

Player and Rookie of the Week: Justin Swidowski, Holy Family (Fr., F, 6-8, Delran, NJ) - Averaged 26.5 points on 80.0-percent shooting from the field and added 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per-game in two contests. Shot 24-for-30 from the field and 83.3-percent (5-for-6) from the free-throw line. Tallied two double-doubles, including a 27-point, 13-rebound, three-block performance on the road against Bloomfield. He added 26 points, 12 rebounds and one block at Wilmington while shooting 11-for-12 from the floor.

March 2

Player of the Week: Kyle White, Goldey-Beacom (Jr., G, 5-10, Georgetown, DE) - Led the Lightning to a double-overtime victory over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday to give GBC a home game in the quarter-final round of the CACC Tournament. He scored 28 points on 7-for-10 shooting, along with six rebounds and three assists. Also converted 12-of-13 attempts from the charity stripe.

Rookie of the Week: Antoine Obery, Felician (Fr., G, 6-3, Roselle, NJ) - Recorded a double-double in Felician's regular-season finale at Post with 22 points on 10-for-12 shooting, 10 rebounds, four blocks and three assists. His 22 points and four blocks were season-highs.

March 9

Player of the Week: Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (Jr., PG, 6-1, Baltimore, MD) - Helped Philadelphia capture its second straight CACC Tournament championship with a victory over Bloomfield on Saturday evening. In three tournament games, Frederick averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per-game while shooting 51.8-percent (14-for-27) from the field and 42.9-percent (6-for-14) from beyond the arc.

Rookie of the Week: Robert Young, Bloomfield (Fr., F, 6-4, Bronx, NY) - Helped lead Bloomfield to the CACC Championship game by averaging 11.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per-game in three contests. Shot nearly 50-percent from the field (14-29) and added 1.33 steals per-game. For his efforts, he was named to the CACC All-Tournament team.
