2007-08 CACC Men's Basketball Weekly Award Winners

November 19

Player of the Week: Omari Knox, Bloomfield (Jr., 6-2, G, Brooklyn, NY) - Led Bloomfield to a 2-0 week with averages of 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per-game. Opened the season with 28 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in a 77-68 victory at NYIT. Followed with 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists against Queens.

Rookie of the Week: Samuel McDuffie, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., 6-5, G/F, Bordentown, NJ) - Posted averages of 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per-game in a 2-0 week. Started his collegiate career with a 21-point, 9-rebound effort in a 77-72 win over Bloomsburg.

November 26

Player of the Week: London Houston, Holy Family (Sr., F, 6-7, Philadelphia, PA) - Filled the stat sheet with averages of 12.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 6.0 blocks, 4.0 steals and 2.5 assists per-game in a 2-0 week. Posted 20 points, eight rebounds, eight blocks and six steals against C.W. Post. Hit two free throws to give the Tigers a 68-67 lead with 3.2 second left, then blocked a lay-up attempt as time expired to give the Tigers the win. Pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, along with four blocks, four assists and two steals against Virginia State.

Rookie of the Week: Devon Young, Felician (Fr., F, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) - Helped lead Felician to a 2-1 week with averages of 18.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per-game. Recorded 21 points, five rebounds and three steals at New Haven and added 20 points and four rebounds in a win over Belmont Abbey.

December 3

Player of the Week: Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (So., G, 6-1, Philadelphia, PA) - Led the Rams to a 2-0 week with averages of 16.5 points, 8.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per-game. Shot 52.4-percent (11-for-21) from the field for the week. Registered 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals over Wilmington.

Rookie of the Week: Devon Young, Felician (Fr., F, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) - Posted 21 points, three rebounds and two steals in his only action of the week against St. Thomas Aquinas. Hit 7-of-16 shots from the field, 2-of-4 from 3-point range and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.

December 10

Player of the Week: Arthur Robertson, Post (Sr., G/F, 6-2, Far Rockaway, NY) - Led Post to a 2-0 week with averages of 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per-game. Started the week with 32 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in a 93-86 victory over Pace. Shot 14-for-21 (.667) from the field for the week and 11-for-13 (.846) from the free-throw line.

Rookie of the Week: Adewale Adefemi, USP (Fr., F, 6-5, Chesilhurst, NJ) - Registered 17 points, seven rebounds and one steal in his only game of the week at Post. He led all scorers in the game and shot 6-for-10 (.600) from the field.

December 17

Co-Players of the Week: Michael Sturns, Holy Family (Sr., G, 6-5, Fort Worth, TX) and Adrian Miles, Goldey-Beacom (So., G, 6-0, Washington, D.C.) - Sturns recorded 29 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a win over Chowan. He shot 14-for-22 from the field. Miles shot 11-for-12 from the floor and finished with 27 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a win over Columbia Union.

Rookie of the Week: Azeez Ellegood, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., G, 5-8, Wilmington, DE) - Tallied 20 points, six steals, five assists and three rebounds in a win over Columbia Union. He connected on 7-of-10 shots from the field.

January 2

Player of the Week: Omari Knox, Bloomfield (Jr., G, 6-2, Brooklyn, NY) - Averaged 22.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week for the Deacons. Netted two free-throws with 15 seconds left to give Bloomfield a 67-66 victory over Pace on Dec. 28. He finished that game with 19 points and 14 rebounds. He also registered 25 points and 11 boards against Merrimack.

Rookie of the Week: Devon Young, Felician (Fr., G, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) - Helped Felician to a 2-1 record over the holidays with averages of 16.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per-game. Shot 47.6-percent (20-for-42) from the field. Capped the week by scoring the game-winning field-goal with under a second left on the clock at Southern Connecticut State.

January 7

Player of the Week: Manny Perez, Caldwell (Jr., F, 6-7 Egg Harbor Township, NJ) - Helped Caldwell to a 2-1 week with outstanding shooting performances. He shot 54.8-percent (17-for-31) from the field and 96.3-percent (26-for-27) from the free-throw line. Averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per-game. Registered 25 points and three blocks in a CACC win over Wilmington and converted all 17 of his free-throw attempts in a loss to Bridgeport. His performance at the free-throw line against Bridgeport set a new conference single-game record.

Rookie of the Week: Trenton Davidheiser, Chestnut Hill (Fr., F, 6-4, Pottstown, PA) - Helped Chestnut Hill to its first-ever CACC and Division-II victory with 26 points and eight rebounds against Dominican. The Griffins won the game, 84-83, in overtime. For the week, he averaged 19.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game in two contests.

January 14

Player of the Week: AJ Reitter, Post (Jr., F, 6-5, Baltimore, MD) -Poured in a career-high 42 points, along with 10 rebounds, in a road victory at Felician on Thursday. He shot 17-for-23 from the field, 4-for-6 from long range and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe. The 42 points tie a single-game high in the Northeast Region this year.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Gage Daye, Bloomfield (Fr., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) and Brandon Williams (Fr., G, 6-1, Philadelphia, PA) -Daye and Williams each played in two games last week and produced nearly identical stats. Daye averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per-game in a 1-1 week. He had 29 points and six rebounds in a 79-66 win over Adelphi. Williams averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per-game for the week. Netted 21 points and added four assists at Nyack and followed with a 15-point, six-rebound, three-assist performance versus Goldey-Beacom.

January 21

Player of the Week: Malcolm Ingram, Philadelphia (So., F, 6-4, Philadelphia, PA) - Registered 26 points in both of his outings last week, in wins against Chestnut Hill and Dominican. Averaged 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 70.4-percent (19-for-27) from the field and 93.3-percent (14-for-15) from the charity stripe. Recorded 26 points on 10-13 shooting, 12 rebounds and three assists against Chestnut Hill. Followed with 26 points on 9-for-14 shooting and 11 rebounds at Dominican.

Rookie of the Week: Samuel McDuffie, Goldey-Beacom (Fr., F/G, 6-5, Bordentown, NJ) - Helped lead the Lightning to a 3-0 week with averages of 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game. Shot 46-percent (15-for-33) from the field. He recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds against Felician and added 16 points and six rebounds versus Holy Family.

January 28

Player of the Week: Taurean Temple, Wilmington (Sr., F, 6-5, New Castle, DE) - Led Wilmington to a 2-0 week with averages of 22.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals per-game. He put up 23 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in a 96-83 win over Bloomfield. He collected 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 79-76 win at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Rod Barrow, Felician (Jr., C, 6-7, Harlem, NY) and Adewale Adefemi, USP (Fr., F, 6-5, Chesilhurst, NJ) - Barrow shot 64.3-percent (9-for-14) from the field in two games and averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per-game. He posted 16 points and eight rebounds on 6-for-8 shooting against Dominican. Adefemi averaged 13.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.33 steals per-game in three contests. He tallied 17 points, six rebounds and three steals against Holy Family.

February 4

Player of the Week: Michael Sturns, Holy Family (Sr., G, 6-5, Fort Worth, TX) - Averaged 45.0 points per-game in two contests, including 51 in a 108-75 win over NYIT. The 51- point performance is the second-highest single-game total in the Division II-era of the CACC. Also averaged 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 62.2-percent (28-45) from the field and 66.7-percent (12-18) from long range.

Co-Rookies of the Week: Devon Young, Felician (Fr., F, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) and Trenton Davidheiser, Chestnut Hill College (Fr., F, 6-4, Pottstown, PA) - Young averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per-game and shot 48.1-percent (13-27) from the field in a 1-1 week. He tallied 20 points and added seven rebounds against Caldwell and added 15 points and 10 rebounds against Chestnut Hill. Davidheiser averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds and shot 48.5-percent (16-33) from the field in two losses. He posted 20 points and eight rebounds against Felician and 16 points and eight rebounds against Holy Family.

February 11

Player of the Week: AJ Reitter, Post (Jr., F, 6-5, Baltimore, MD) -Led Post to two key North Division victories over Caldwell and Dominican by averaging 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per-game. Shot 8-for-19 (.421) from 3-point range for the week. He recorded 25 points and five rebounds in a win over Dominican.

Rookie of the Week: Gage Daye, Bloomfield (Fr., F, 6-2, Newark, NJ) - Averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per-game in two contests last week. Poured in 20 points, five rebounds and three assists in a win over Felician and added 18 points, seven assists and four rebounds in a loss to Caldwell.

February 18

Player of the Week: Michael Sturns, Holy Family (Sr., G, 6-5, Fort Worth, TX) - Averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per-game while shooting 54.1-percent (20-for-37) from the field and 92.9-percent (13-for-14) from the free-throw line in a 2-0 week. He poured in 30 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in a victory over Goldey-Beacom. Concluded the week with 24 points and four boards at Dominican.

Rookie of the Week: Devon Young, Felician (Fr., F, 6-3, Monmouth Junction, NJ) - Posted averages of 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per-game in a 1-1 week. He registered 21 points, three rebounds and three assists in a road loss to Philadelphia, and then added 15 points, six rebounds and six assists in a win over Nyack.

February 25

Player of the Week: Michael Sturns, Holy Family (Sr., G, 6-5, Fort Worth, TX) - Poured in 29.5 points per-game for the week, along with 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He shot 50.0-percent (17-for-34) from the field for the week and 81.5-percent (22-for-27) from the charity stripe. He tallied 35 points, three rebounds and three steals at Nyack and added 24 points and eight rebounds against Chestnut Hill.

Rookie of the Week: Rod Barrow, Felician (Jr., C, 6-7, Harlem, NY) - Averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per-game while shooting 58.3-percent (14-for-24) from the field. Notched his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds versus Chestnut Hill. He also had 16 points and five rebounds against Dominican.

March 3

Player of the Week: Omari Knox, Bloomfield (Jr., G, 6-2, Brooklyn, NY) - Led Bloomfield to two huge victories last week. Needing a victory to have a chance to qualify for the CACC Tournament, Knox led the Deacons to a victory over Felician in the regular-season finale. Then, Knox helped Bloomfield to a double-overtime upset over the North's top-seed, Post University, in the first round of the CACC Tournament. For the week, he averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per-game.

Rookie of the Week: Kevin Whaley, Chestnut Hill (Fr., G, 6-4 York, PA) - Poured in 32 points to lead CHC to an 80-75 win over Wilmington in the regular-season finale for both teams. Shot 12-for-19 from the field and 7-for-11 from 3-point range. His seven triples tie three other players for the most in a single game in the CACC this season. Whaley added six rebounds, three blocks and one steal in the game.

March 10

Player of the Week: Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (So., PG, 6-1, Joppa, PA) - Led Philadelphia to its first CACC Tournament Championship by averaging 17.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per-game while playing every minute of the tournament. Shot 54.8-percent from the field in the three games and committed only seven total turnovers. For his efforts, he was named the MVP of the tournament.

March 17

Player of the Week: Malcolm Ingram, Philadelphia (So., F, 6-4, Philadelphia, PA) - Tallied 26 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a four-overtime loss to Saint Rose in the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament quarterfinal round. He shot 8-for-14 from the field and played all 60 minutes.
