STURNS HONORED AS ECAC DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CENTERVILLE, MA - Holy Family University guard Michael Sturns (sr. Fort Worth, TX/North Crowley) was tabbed as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II men's basketball player of the week on Wednesday.

Sturns poured in a school record 51 points in a 108-75 victory over the New York Institute of Technology on February 2. In two games last week, Sturns averaged 45 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 62.2 percent (28-of-45) from the field, 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from 3-point range and 95.7 percent (22-of-23) at the free throw line. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) also recognized Sturns as its player of the week.

Currently, Sturns leads Division II in scoring with 26.5 points per game.

Holy Family (15-7, 8-3 CACC), ranked seventh in the NCAA Northeast Regional Rankings, will visit Philadelphia University, sixth in the regional rankings, on Saturday, February 9 at noon and will be broadcast on CSTV.
