STURNS SELECTED TO PLAY IN NCAA/NABC MEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-STAR GAME

March 26, 2008

NEW HAVEN, CT-Senior guard Michael Sturns will represent Holy Family University and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in the NCAA/National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Star Game at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. on Friday, March 28. The game is held in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. This is the third consecutive season that a student-athlete from a CACC school has been selected to play in the game. Last year, Philadelphia University center Christian Burns and Bloomfield College guard Andre Dabney played. Philadelphia guard Tayron Thomas participated in the inaugural game in 2006.

Sturns, a 6-5 senior guard from Fort Worth, TX, has already earned numerous post-season honors this season, including CACC Player of the Year accolades, and being named to the Daktronics All-Northeast Region first team and NABC All-Northeast Region first team.

Sturns is leading Division II in scoring with 26.6 points per game to go with 6.7 rebounds per game, 94 assists and 70 steals. He holds the school record for most points in a season (824) and most points in a single game (51). He scored his 1,000th career point on January 5.

Holy Family finished the season at 21-10, reached the CACC championship game and made their first appearance in the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament.
