THE NEW LONDON DAY; POST RECRUIT GARVIN MCALISTER

Garvin McAlister, The Day's boys' basketball Player of the Year, has committed to play at Division II Post University in Waterbury next year. McAlister, a 5-foot-11 inch guard, averaged 13.8 points per game while helping the Wildcats to a 23-1 overall record, which included an unbeaten regular season and an Eastern Connecticut Conference tournament championship. McAlister also averaged seven assists and 4.3 rebounds and had 104 steals as a senior. McAlister was the MVP of both the ECC tournament and the Manchester Holiday Classic.

"Garvin is a great recruit for our program," Post coach Mike Donnelly said in a statement. "He comes from an excellent high school program and he is used to playing at a very competitive and intense level."

Post was 17-12 overall last season and 14-6 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference while capturing a share of the CACC regular season title.
