STURNS AND INGRAM EARN DAKTRONICS ALL-REGION ACCOLADES

March 12, 2008

NEW HAVEN, CT-Senior guard Michael Sturns of Holy Family University and sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram of Philadelphia University have been named to the 2007-08 Daktronics Division II All-Northeast Region men's basketball team, it was announced today. Sturns was a first team pick and Ingram was a second team selection. A total of 11 players from the region were named to the first or second team.

Sturns, a 6-5 senior who hails from Fort Worth, TX, is the leading scorer in all of Division II with an average of 26.5 points per-game. He was named the Player of the Year in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and was a member of the All-Tournament team. He has led the Tigers to a 21-9 record this season and a berth into the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Tournament. Holy Family, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, will face No. 2 Assumption College on Saturday, March 15, at 2:30 pm.

In addition to leading the CACC in scoring, Sturns ranks among league leaders in numerous categories, including 13th in rebounds, (6.5), 10th in field-goal percentage (47.6), ninth in assists (2.97) and third in steals (2.27).

Ingram, a 6-4 sophomore from Philadelphia, PA, was a first team All-CACC selection in his first year as a starter. He checks in with averages of 16.7 ppg (sixth in CACC), 8.4 rebounds per-game (fourth in CACC) and shoots 49.5-percent from the field (sixth in CACC). Ingram also paces the conference with an average of 3.39 offensive rebounds per-game. Ingram and the Rams won the CACC Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 8, and gained an automatic berth into the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament. Philadelphia is the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Saint Rose on Saturday at noon.
