CALDWELL MEN'S BASKETBALL TABBED "TEAM TO WATCH" BY DIVISION II BULLETIN

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College men's basketball team was listed as a team to watch in the preseason rankings done by the Division II Bulletin, a monthly newsletter that covers NCAA Division II men's basketball. The Cougars, who won the 2007 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Northeast Regional, were included among the 'Others to Watch' section in the publication's Preseason Top 25 rankings. Additionally, the Division II Bulletin tabbed the Cougars as the top team in the CACC for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

Caldwell, coached by Mark A. Corino, returns 11 of 12 players from last year's squad that finished 19-12 and captured the conference title as the fifth seed in the CACC Tournament. Senior forward B.J. Suchy (Ronkonkoma, NY/Our Savior), a third team all-CACC selection last year, is the team's leading returning scorer at 13.6 points per game. Freshman forward Sam Cricelli (Brighton, England/Culham), who scored the winning basket with 22 seconds remaining in the Cougars' 61-60 victory over the University of the Sciences in the CACC final, paced the team in rebounding as a freshman with 6.8 boards per contest.

Also back is two-time all-CACC and all-Met forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.), who missed all but two games last season due to injury. Among the newcomers is a pair of transfers in guard Eddie Crockett (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) from Division I Nicholls State and forward Tyler Emmons (Portland, ME/Portland), who played at Lynn University last season.

Division II Bulletin is the leading publication covering NCAA Division II men's basketball. It is published by GSR Communications, based in Beaverton, Ore. The Preseason Top 25 includes No. 2 Bentley College, the team that defeated the Cougars, 59-56 in the first round of the NCAA Northeast Regional, and No. 5 Wingate University, whom Caldwell plays on Nov. 30 in the OrthoCarolina Classic in Wingate, N.C. In its conference previews, the Division II Bulletin has Caldwell first, Post University second and Philadelphia University third in the CACC, with Nyack College's Sheanan Martinez picked as the conference's Player of the Year.

Caldwell begins the 2007-08 season at home on Saturday, Nov. 24 against Belmont Abbey College in the George R. Newman Center.
