CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars won a pair of games last week to extend their winning streak to three and move into second place in the CACC North Division standings. Junior guard Carl Augustin scored a career-high 18 points to lead Caldwell past Dominican, 49-45 on Wednesday. Senior forward B.J. Suchy tallied 21 points as the Cougars defeated Felician, 81-64 on Saturday. The Cougars made 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) from the field in the first half versus Felician. The schedule has Caldwell playing its next six games on the road, starting with important CACC North match-ups at Post, Bloomfield and Nyack this week.

Felician - Freshman F/C Kashiff Foster enjoyed his first career double-double on Thursday, posting 16 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench in a non-league win at Chestnut Hill. Thursday marked the first time in its previous seven games that the Golden Falcons had out-shot their opponent from the field, percentagewise.

Holy Family - Guard Michael Sturns set a school record with 51 points in a 108-75 win over NYIT on Saturday. Sturns, the leading scorer in Division II, was 16 of 24 from the field, including 7 of 10 from three, and 12 of 13 from the free throw line. He also had 12 rebounds to complete his first double-double of the year. The old record was 45 points by Joe Simko in 1995 against Neumann College. The 51 points are the second-highest single-game point total by a CACC player in the Division II-era. Holy Family is now 14-7 and on a five-game winning streak. The Tigers, ranked ninth in the NCAA's Northeast Regional Rankings, are at Wilmington on Tuesday and at Philadelphia, in a game that will be televised on CSTV, on Saturday.

Nyack - Senior guard Brian Roberts is 28 points away from 1,000 for his career. During the last ten games (in which Nyack has gone 7-3), Roberts has led Nyack in scoring at 14.6 per game while shooting 50% from the field. He has also pulled down 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals per-game. As a team during the same stretch, the Warriors have out-rebounded their opponents by an average of 8.0 per-game (41.3 to 33.6), and out-assisted opponents 15.4 to 11.4.

Philadelphia - Head Coach Herb Magee and his team have won a season-high six straight contests dating back to a non-conference loss to Kutztown University on January 9th. Sophomore point guard Russell Frederick set a career-high with 24 points in the win at Wilmington University on February 2nd. Junior guard Mike Dunn needs just 56 points to become the 46th men's basketball player to record 1,000 career points.

USP - USP's three game winning streak is its longest this season. The Devils have out-rebounded their opponent in seven of their last nine games and 15 times in 20 games this season- sporting a 10-5 record in those games. In the most recent NCAA statistics report, the Devils are ranked 49th nationally in scoring defense (65.5) ; 89th nationally as a team in field goal percentage defense (42.8%), 14th in rebound margin (7.1), and 22nd in fewest personal fouls committed (15.4). Adewale Adefemi is ranked 84th nationally in rebounding (7.9/game).
