STURNS PICKS UP PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS FOR CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL

NEW HAVEN, CT - Holy Family senior guard Michael Sturns has picked up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced today. Rod Barrow of Felician College was the choice for Rookie of the Week.
Sturns, a 6-5 senior guard from Fort Worth, TX, poured in 29.5 points per-game for the week, along with 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. he shot 50.0-percent (17-for-34) from the field for the week and 81.5-percent (22-for-27) from the charity stripe. He tallied 35 points, three rebounds and three steals at Nyack and added 24 points and eight rebounds against Chestnut Hill. Sturns continues to lead all of NCAA Division II in scoring with 26.7 per-contest.
Barrow, a 6-7 junior center from Harlem, NY, averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per-game while shooting 58.3-percent (14-for-24) from the field. He notched his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds versus Chestnut Hill. He also had 16 points and five rebounds against Dominican. This was Barrow's first season of collegiate basketball.

Derek Savage, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., F/G, 6-4, Lincoln, DE) - Posted averages of 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per-game in a 2-0 week for the Lightning.
Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (So., PG, 6-1, Joppa, MD) - Averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per-game in a 2-0 week.
Jason Romer, Felician (Sr., G/F, 6-3, New York, NY) - Averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per-game in a 1-1 week for the Golden Falcons.
Will Carty, Dominican (Jr., G, 6-1, Bronx, NY) - Shot 61.1-percent from the field in two games and averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars can wrap up second place in the CACC North Division with a victory over Nyack in the regular-season finale, or a Dominican loss against Post. A Caldwell loss coupled with a Dominican win puts the Chargers in second and the Cougars in third. Both games will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Regardless, Caldwell and Dominican will face each other on Saturday, Mar. 1 in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament, with the second-place team hosting the game.
Felician - Second-semester enrollee Rod Barrow posted his first career double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds ? both season highs - in Saturday's home win over Chestnut Hill. Felician will miss the CACC playoffs for the first time since 2000-01, and for just the second time since joining the conference.
Chestnut Hill - Freshman Kevin Whaley held a hot hand this week, averaging 18.7 points per-game while shooting 48.6-percent (18-37) from the field and 42.9-percent (9-21) from 3-point land. He scored 22 points at Felician and 17 against both Holy Family and Columbia Union. Fellow freshman Trenton Davidheiser recorded two double-doubles for the week. He notched 24 points and 13 rebounds at Columbia Union and added 12 points and 10 rebounds at Felician.
Holy Family - The Holy Family University men's basketball team completed the regular season by winning its final two games last week. The Tigers defeated Chestnut Hill, 69-61 on Wednesday, and Nyack, 81-79 on Saturday. Holy Family ends the regular season with an overall record of 19-8 and a 12-4 CACC mark. Guard Michael Sturns is leading Division II in scoring with 26.7 points per game. The Tigers, ranked seventh in the NCAA Northeast Region, will be the second seed in the southern division for the CACC Tournament. The team will face Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at home. The two teams split the season series, 1-1.
Philadelphia - Head Coach Herb Magee earned his 850th career coaching victory in the Rams' win at the University of the Sciences on February 19th. The Rams have won 12 of their past 13 games ? a stretch that includes a pair of six-game winning streaks.
USP - The Devils have now qualified for the CACC playoffs in each of Head Coach David Pauley's eight seasons as USP's head coach. The Devils have now reached post season play in 26 consecutive seasons, with the streak starting in the 1982-83 campaign. In the most recent NCAA statistics report, the Devils are ranked 42nd nationally in scoring defense (65.8); 84th nationally as a team in field goal percentage defense (42.7%), 25th in rebound margin (5.5), and 25th in fewest personal fouls committed (15.5).
