Men's Basketball

NEW HAVEN, CT-Senior guard Michael Sturns of Holy Family University and sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram of Philadelphia University have been named to the 2007-08 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Men's Basketball All-Star team. Sturns was a first team selection and Ingram was a second team pick. A total of 10 players earned a spot on the team.

This honor is one in a long list of post-season awards for Sturns. Sturns, a 6-5 senior guard from Fort Worth, TX, has also been selected to the Daktronics All-American third team, the Division II Bulletin All-America third team and the Daktronics All-Northeast Region and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Northeast Region first team. Furthermore, he was voted the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year.

 Sturns is participating in this week's College Basketball Invitational which is being held in Wadsworth, Ohio. The top 65 senior men's basketball players from Division II, Division III and the NAIA were invited to the event. He also played in the NCAA/NABC Division II All-Star Game on March 28 in Springfield, Mass.

 Sturns led Division II in scoring for the season with 26.6 points per game. He added 6.7 rebounds per game, 94 assists and 70 steals. Sturns holds the school record for points in a season (824) and points in a game (51). He is fifth on the single season steals list.

 Ingram, a  6-4 sophomore from Philadelphia, PA, was a first team All-CACC selection in his first year as a starter. He was also named to the Daktronics All-Northeast Region second team after averaging 17.0 points and 8.4 rebounds per-game and shooting 49.8-percent from the field for the season. Ingram and the Rams won the CACC Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 8, and gained an automatic berth into the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament.

 Saint Rose senior point guard Steve Dagostino was named ECAC Player of the Year and Merrimack's Darin Mency was voted Rookie of the Year. The complete ECAC All-Star team is below.
