FIVE CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-MET TEAM

NEW HAVEN, CT - Five men's basketball players from Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institutions have earned All-Metropolitan accolades by the National Invitation Tournament and Met Basketball Writers Association. Bloomfield College guard Omari Knox, Caldwell College forward Manny Perez and Nyack College guard Sheanan Martinez were first team selections. Devon Young of Felician College and B.J. Suchy of Caldwell were second team picks.

Knox, a junior guard from the Bronx, NY, was a second team All-CACC selections this year after ranking second in the CACC with an average of 17.9 points per-game. He also stood 10th in rebounds with 7.1 per-game and third with 2.25 three-point field-goals made per-game.

Perez, a junior forward from Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, is a three-time All-CACC and All-Met selection. He led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.4 points and 6.4 boards per-game. He also paced the CACC in field-goal percentage (.546) and ranked second in free-throw shooting (.838).

Martinez, a senior guard from Haverstraw, NY, was a second team All-CACC pick this season after posting averages of 11.4 ppg, 3.73 assists per-game and 1.59 steals per-game. He also stood fourth in the conference with a 1.74 assist:turnover ratio.

Young, who hails from Monmouth Junction, NJ, was the only freshman to garner All-Met accolades. He was voted the CACC Rookie of the Year after ranking fifth in the CACC in scoring and first among rookies (16.8), 11th in 3-point field-goal percentage (.361) and 12th in 3-pointers made per-game (1.59).

This is the first All-Met award for Suchy, a 6-6 forward from Ronkonkoma, NY, who received All-CACC honorable mention status this past season. Suchy averaged 12.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per-game and ranked 11th in the conference in field-goal shooting (.469).
