NEW CASTLE, DE - Wilmington College is pleased to announce that Amelia Simmons (Concord HS/Wilmington, DE) and Taurean Temple (Hodgson Vo-Tech/Newark, DE) have been named the Wildcat Athletes of the Month for the month of January.

Amelia Simmons, a freshman guard/forward has continued her stellar first half of the season, with an even better start to the second half. Simmons averaged 20.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during the month of January. Simmons leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounding, pulling in 9.0 boards per game. Simmons currently ranks third in the CACC in scoring and seventh in rebounding. In 11 games this month, Amelia has recorded seven double-double efforts. Her best performances came in wins against St. Thomas Aquinas College and Georgian Court University. Simmons scored 16 points and notched 16 rebounds against STAC, and tallied 33 points and 12 boards against Georgian Court. She has been awarded CACC Rookie of the Week honors four times already this season.

Taurean Temple, a junior on the men's basketball team, led the Wildcats in scoring during the month of January. His 25.7 points per game during that span, is tops on the team. Since his return to the team in late December, Taurean is averaging 24.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He is not eligible to be listed among conference leaders, since he has played in less than 75% of the Wildcats' games, but would be counted among the league leaders in scoring. In Temple's 11 games, he has hit the 20-point plateau eight times. His best performances came in losses to Dominican College and Post University, as Taurean notched 35 points (14-17 shooting) and 27 points and 12 rebounds, respectively.
