PHILADELPHIA GARNERS TOP SEED FOR CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

NEW HAVEN, CT ? Philadelphia University has earned the top seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Tournament. The Rams garnered the top spot by virtue of a tie-breaker over Post University and Holy Family University. All three schools finished the regular-season with 14-6 conference records. The Rams will face #8 Dominican College on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.

The Rams are eligible for the CACC Tournament for the first time after joining the conference last year. The squad is 19-8 overall this season and is coming off a 51-36 setback to the Chargers Saturday afternoon in Orangeburg, NY. Philadelphia won the first meeting against Dominican on January 13, 77-57, in Philadelphia. Dominican enters the tournament 13-14 overall and 10-10 in conference play.

Post is the #2 seed and will host #7 Felician Tuesday night. The Eagles are 16-11 overall, while the Golden Falcons are 12-15. The two teams split their regular-season match-ups, with Post winning at home on November 30, 83-78, and Felician getting a victory at home on January 30, 92-89.

No. 3 Holy Family will welcome #6 USP Tuesday night after sweeping the Devils in the regular-season. The Tigers concluded the regular-season 19-8 overall, while the Devils are 12-14 and 10-10 in conference action.

No. 4 Goldey-Beacom will host the fourth quarterfinal game against #5 Caldwell. The two teams met Saturday night, with the Cougars coming out on top at home, 53-52. The Lightning won the previous meeting on January 13 in Wilmington, 56-51. The Lightning and Cougars both finished 11-9 in conference play, but Goldey-Beacom gained the fourth seed by virtue of a tie-breaker. Goldey-Beacom is 14-12 overall and Caldwell is 16-11.

The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Dominican College on Coach Baxter Court on Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3. Friday's semifinal games will be 5:30 and 7:30 pm starts. Saturday's championship game will begin at 4:00 pm.
