BURNS SELECTED TO PLAY IN PORTSMOUTH INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

April 4, 2007

NEW HAVEN, CT - Philadelphia University senior center Christian Burns has been selected to play in the 55th Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament to be played April 4-7 in Portsmouth, VA. Burns is one of 64 college seniors to play in the prestigious event. He is one of only two non-Division I players scheduled to play in the event.

The nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament, the Portsmouth Invitational is recognized by the National Basketball Association and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players. It is the only tournament for college seniors to be evaluated in prior to the NBA's pre-draft camp in Orlando, Fla.

Burns was recently named the Most Outstanding Player for the East team at the NABC Division II All-Star game in Springfield, MA. He was named the Daktronics Division II National Player of the Year and the Northeast Region and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year. Burns, a 6-9 center from Hamilton, NJ, finished the season ranked first in the CACC in rebounding (11.2), second in scoring (21.7) and blocks (2.10), third in field-goal percentage (.550) and seventh in steals per-game (1.59).

Burns is playing on the team called the Portsmouth Sports Club, with such players as Courtney Sims of Michigan, Frank Young of West Virginia and Jamon Gordon of Virginia Tech.
